Do not bring your pet ever to mcafee not only is the staff rude and over priced but the vet tech is not licensed as a medical professional too and rights wrong and unethical things on you so make sure you see everything up front before you go there and good luck your going to need it!

Very good about communicating what was happening with the health of the cat I had adopted from the shelter. Certainly more than the shelter told me. They are always polite. I haven't figured out why they put the owner in a room as they take the cat to the back. Cat was well taken care of when she had to stay there.

Been going to McAfees for 30 + years. They have all been outstanding to deal with and really have vets that know what they are doing and how to handle the animals. I just got another dog and plan on going to them for all their services.

My dear Lola passed away yesterday at 15 years young. She’s been under the care of Dr. Brooke and the staff at McAfee for many of those years and we wouldn’t have had it any other way. To the staff: Thank you for treating Lola like a rockstar each and every single time she came in. She loved going there and socializing whenever she could. I’d expect going to the Doctor would be traumatic for pets, but for Lola it was just another fun visit to see her pals. The cookie you guys ran and gave to Lola before she passed was beyond sweet and my Lola passed away knowing she was loved by you guys too. To Dr. Brooke: Thanks for taking care of Lola and my Mom when she visited. Your expertise, compassion and love for all your patients and their parents is above and beyond anything I’ve ever known. You’re truly a gem. Thank you for everything. I’m confident that my girl lived a long, happy life because she has the best medical care in the business.

Drove an hour and a half after being recommended McAfee for my cats surgery and I’m so glad I did. Dr. Steve was highly recommended to us and we are so happy we made the choice to take her to McAfee. The clinic was clean, staff was friendly and they took very good care of my girl. Thank you Dr Steve for helping Penelope to breath better!

I started bringing my dogs here about a year ago. I had moved and it was closer than my old vet. I looked at the reviews and decided to bring my dogs here. I am not saying you shouldn't bring your pet here, however, my experience was that this is an animal hospital for people with a lot of money to spend on their pets. Every time I would bring one of my dogs in I was told that something should be done; teeth cleaned, a wart removed, bloodwork done that wasn't necessary. I felt very uncomfortable and guilty that I could not afford these things. The final straw that made me decide to go back to my old vet in St. John's was when my 14 year old dog was suffering from pain that kept him up all night and I was told to give him an extra gabapentin. I was leaving the following Monday to see my mother who had recently had surgery and couldn't cancel the trip. I was told that they couldn't get him in for a week. Upset that I needed to leave and worried about my dog, I called my old vet and they had mentioned a pain medication he had been on before. I called McAfee back to ask if he could take this and was told they were not comfortable giving this medication to dogs; tramadol. I was told by Dr. Lindsay that I could have him hospitalized and given a fentanyl patch, crazy, because he does not need to be hospitalized. This was okay with them but they did not feel comfortable prescribing a pain med he had been on before and that helped him. I am tired of being made to feel guilty for not being able to spend money I don't have on things that are not necessary but when a true emergency happens I am told to just give him another gabapentin and that's all they can do. Fine place to go if you want to spend a lot of money but I'm going back to my old vet where I don't have to own a $3,000 dog to get any support. Also, no concern for the fact that my dog was in pain and that I was going out of town. Just really bad bedside manner and no understanding or compassion to either my dog or myself.

Grooming portion is not very good. Very few places available during early COVID outbreak, so I tried McAfee. They kept my dog ALL DAY! I had to have her there by 8 am and it was 5 pm before she was ready. Totally unacceptable. The grooming job was ok, but my baby was acting a little "off" the next few days. I took her to my vet and he noticed she seemed to be hurting in her hindquarters. Had to put her on meds. I don't know what happened, but we will never use McAfee for grooming again.

The staff is really friendly and treats every animal with extra care. They are gentle with my Kira and I am very thankful for that. Being an AAHA accredited practice it shows everyone that they jump through extra hoops to keep that high and well deserved respect in the animal care world. I recommend McAfee for your pet needs.
