ATTN PET OWNERS, esp. BIRD & EXOTIC PET OWNERS please proceed with caution before taking your pets to this clinic in Valparaiso, Indiana!! The clinic DOES NOT offer emergency after-hours care for any animals, and it DOES NOT have veterinarians on call to discuss an emergency after-hours. The clinic sees exotic pets, including birds, but the closest emergency vet that sees exotics cum bird pets after-hours is located 1+ hours North of Valparaiso in Chicago South Loop, and 2.5 hours South in Indianapolis The veterinary 'standard of care' practiced at this clinic includes OPENLY telling owners that the veterinarians who work there DO NOT have a legal, moral, nor ethical obligation and responsibility to worry about, nor care for, pets under their care during after-hours. And, the clinic DOES NOT communicate to owners 'best practices' nor an 'action plan' for how owners can handle pet emergencies during after-hours, and instead openly tells owners that it is not the clinic's obligation nor responsibility to communicate to owners best practices for handling emergencies after-hours as owners are 'solely' responsible for their pets after-hours. Yes, owners are obligated/responsible for their pets, including after-hours, but one would hope that the clinic you entrust to care for your pets practices a 'standard of care' that AT A MINIMUM communicates to owners best practices/best ways for handling emergencies after-hours; DOES NOT have a 'we only work 9 to 5 mentality'; and DOES NOT openly tell owners that the clinic is NOT responsible for worrying/caring for pets after-hours.I have been taking my birds to this clinic for 4+ years now and today was my last time coming here EVER AGAIN. My green cheek conure suddenly died in January this year during the night (during after-hours for this clinic), and he passed within 2.15 hours of my finding him critically ill and lying on his side at the bottom of his cage. Time was of the essence here, and within MINUTES of finding him, I should have removed him from the cage; put him in the car; and been enroute to an emergency vet. However, INSTEAD, I had to FIRST research on the Internet for emergency pet clinics that care for exotics then call each one to confirm they are open and care for birds AND research the best way to handle and transport a critically ill bird. And, by the time research was done; vet was called, bird moved to car; and drove to VEG 1.15 hours away in Chicago my bird passed.Maybe, just maybe I could have been saved my bird after-hours had the clinic communicated to me the best way to handle bird emergencies after-hours, and also provided to me with a list of emergency vets that care for birds. My other conure bird had an exam scheduled for today with the owner of the clinic, and while there, I shared this point with the owner, and she responded by telling me how sorry she is that I lost my bird and also how the clinic DOES NOT have a legal, moral, nor ethical, obligation cum responsibility to worry about, nor care for, my bird after-hours. And, the owner then grabs my arm, leads me to a sign posted on the wall (one typed up by staff that states how 1 in 6 veterinary clinic staff either commit suicide or think about committing suicide and that if any client is not nice nor courteous to any of the clinic's veterinary staff, then they will be refused service and/or canceled as a client) AND tells me that she refuses to examine my bird and that I am no longer a client.I was relieved to be done with this clinic, happy actually, because, my bird's life matters and depends on NOT BEING SEEN by a clinic that practices a negligent, egregious, and subpar 'standard of care', and one owned by a licensed vet that openly - and on the face- tells owners that it's not the clinic's obligation, nor responsibility, to worry about, nor care for your bird, after-hours

I cannot express enough, my gratitude to the staff and Dr.. I was faced with a decision that was hard to make. There was no judgment, only heartfelt compassion and kindness from the first phone call til the decision was made. Thank you all for being who you are. My 21 year old little buddy Gangster G the Leopard Gecko is resting peacefully under my Granddaughters Pecan Tree. He will be sorely missed but what a blessing to have those 21 years of memories. What a blessing all of you were at a time when you were needed most. 5 stars all day long ?.

Wonderful, fit me in last minute & they treat exotic animals. Unfortunately their prices as compared to other vets is just too much for me to continue seeing them. They should have a sliding scale for fees when the owner is retired and on a very limited budget

I took my sick guinea pig here on the recommendation of my dog’s primary vet. The staff were all friendly and helpful. They modeled for me every step of administering medication to a guinea pig. Dr. Herbert was friendly and personable. Super transparent about pricing. All of the staff were really gentle with my guinea pig. Also didn’t take very long, they saw me at my appointment time and I didn’t have to wait long to see the doctor. All around really positive experience.

I am proud to bring my pets here long story short my old girl was getting sick for a very long time and I couldn't give more thanks to the doctor that was very knowledgeable of what was going on after tests and explained everything to me so clearly, got her in as soon as possible for surgery and she healed perfectly. My old girl has many more years to come now and I am so grateful for that.

Very caring and kind staff. They answered all our questions and they were very compassionate to our Bearded Dragon, Blue, who is now home and resting. Definitely recommend bringing your pets here. Also staff is very knowledgeable about the animals that they take care of and the kindness that they showed is amazing. Thank you Arborview Animal Hospital for making us feel like we mattered. We will be bringing our other babies to here as well. This group of people is just AWESOME!!!!!!!

I highly recommend this vet office. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Both Dr. Conolly and the vet tech, Jessica, were wonderful and took great care of my blind pup Dante. They were patient with him and gave him the time (and treats!) he needed to adjust. Also, the prices are very reasonable here!

I took my snake, Athena, to Arbor View for her very first well-check appointment. They were extremely quick with getting us into a room and getting her seen. There was hardly any wait time. They were very knowledgeable and treated my baby girl with care. I got to hear her heartbeat and they weighed her! I loved Arbor View and I will continue to take my pets there.
