I was downtown last week and needed change for a $20. Just two tens was all I needed. I was passing the 1st Source bank across from the Courthouse so I walked in. There were three tellers with no customers, and they were chatting and didn't acknowledge me right away. When one of the tellers finally asked if she could help me, I asked if I could get change for the twenty. She asked if I had an account, and I said I did not. She said she could not make change since I wasn't a customer. I reminded her she would still have the same amount of money in her bank when she made change, but she declined to make change for me. I called my bank later and asked what their policy is regarding making change for non-customers. The representative said that most all banks have an agreement to offer services like making change for up to $100 for non-customers. That seems reasonable, so it seems 1st Source is not interested in generating good will by simply making change for a twenty. I could understand if they were really busy and I wasn't a customer, but there were no other customers in the bank and I just had a simple request.
