After reading the recent reviews, I feel it's necessary to share my recent experience. What a beautiful and fun location to visit in the fall! Admission was only $2/person (kids under 3 free) & it gives you access to their big open play area, a big fun slide, petting zoo, a tree house, a train ride, and access to their grounds. Compared to other locations in the area & around Indy, this is about $10-15 cheaper per person! They had vendors set up for the kids as extra which were fairly priced! $8 for a detailed face paint, which is significantly cheaper than the zoo! I was quite impressed with it! I would recommend coming! We really enjoyed our time there.
The only reason why I'm giving it a 4 is because their Apple Dumpling truck was disorganized/mismanaged & ended up taking 40 minutes. Not sure if that's a vendor or Apple Works, but whoever it is, the kids working that truck needs help.

AppleWorks has been a fall tradition for our family. We visited over fall break a couple of weeks ago. Apple dumplings were not available that day. We came back today. Was charged $2 a person. Not sure what for? Parking or admission? Signs said something about an event, but outside the orchard being busier, didn’t notice anything different from a couple of weeks ago. The store is sad. Kind of bare & everything is so expensive. I know prices are up everywhere, but we still get delicious bakery items at a local stand for much cheaper. The animal feed is inconveniently located up front. Parking was a mess today. The property is beautiful, trees were gorgeous.

I’ve come here at least once a year each year of my life, and brought friends from out of town this year. I was so upset with all the changes that have happened since the new owners have taken over.
There was an admission fee, the ice cream store was shut down, the shop had been gutted and was out of many staples we buy each year (apple butter, apple crisps, etc), the whole pumpkin patch was closed off because the “season had ended” mid October???
The land is so beautiful, but it was so upsetting to see. The whole place just felt so unfamiliar today.
I’m hoping things get better next year.

Way over priced, not autism nor child friendly, undisclosed fees, extremely rough and unpleasant train ride, nothing special about the shop pretty redundant, people driving through areas where you also have to walk, extra charges to my card, horribly long lines, people cutting lines and no employees to keep things in order, disorganized rides to the pumpkin patch, unpleasant employees working the pumpkin patch charging whatever they feel, honestly feels like a scam. Overall just a waste of time, money, and energy.

unfortunately, not only does the Appleworks fail to compare with other orchards for fall fun, it also fails comparisons with Appleworks in all previous years. Our photos from 2017 (when were were there on this exact day) show us engaged in a variety of activites that were not around in 2024...also having a good time - which we didn't really do in 2024.
There was a miserably long line for the tractor to the pumpkin patch. some people yelling "we could walk there faster than this" we skipped out on that activity - despite it being high on our list to do so. We couldn't pick apples, and despite saying they have 70 varieties, not quite sure where 65 of them go, becasue all they had were some standard takes.
From the other reviews is seems there are a lot of happy memories tied into the Appleworks for a lot of indiana families. It also seems like they will be building NEW memories at other orchards in the years to come after visiting the new, more ruined Appleworks.
(PS they were out of Apple butter, 2 of the 5 apple varietes they were selling, carmel apples, and the hot apple cider scalded my son's tongue pretty badly. The petting zoo was specially disappointing, and it seemed like everyone there was fully away of how much it just kinda sucked now. I'd say it was the #1 topic of overheard conversation.)

This place is so much fun! Lots of entertainment and fun for all ages. Great place for pictures too! Totally worth the trip, multiple times during the season for the different apple varieties. Friendly employees and fun and tasty local items. Can't wait to go back!
Edit 10/20/24- Unfortunately things have changed. Not as fun as the years passed. Customer service has gone away. Poor animals are full and peopled out. Admission was charged for the fall festival but I'm not sure what I waited in my car for 20 minutes to pay for. No longer on the top of our list to do. :(

New ownership happens.. It’s basically like life, things change. It’s way better if you roll with those changes. Shhh, don’t fight it.. “I don’t like how they charge $2 to get in..” Stop it, it’s $2. Save that energy you’re expounding to complain about something you shouldn’t be.. And for you people who are destroying stuff when you go there. Pumpkins, basketball goals, whatever.. Stop it. Give yourself a hug and tell yourself you’re better than that. Also, stay home.. To you employees, I appreciate you. We, the civilized appreciate you. It’s obvious you’re doing you’re best and as my yoga instructor always says, “your best is always enough”. Much love Apple Works. Thanks for allowing all of us to come to your property to have a good time.

I’m hesitant to leave this negative review so I will change it to neutral. If you go to Apple Works expecting how it used to be, don’t. If you’re new to the area or looking to change things up definitely try it out. It is night/day different than the previous owners, that can be good or bad. It is up to you to try it at least once and make your own judgement. Best of luck to the new owners.

We went this past Sunday. Cute little place. Loved everything. Even the pony rides. However the people who ran it were rude and very unfriendly.

VERY disappointed in our experience as a whole this year. I was so looking forward to going to the pumpkin patch with my grandkids like we do every year, and I even took my children there for many years. First thing that changed was they charge an admission now to get in for every person in the vehicle. Only children under three are free.
And they tell you if you wanna buy a wristband for your children it’s five dollars and they can do all the things over there and they point over to what’s going on for kids. The fact is the five dollars only covers the black slide, that’s been there for years, small maze and the train, everything else you have to pay for; Pony rides face painting. Then we get to the pumpkin patch and majority of the pumpkins are smashed or mushy. The pickings were very, very slim. The ones we did pick weren’t very big at all and when we got up there to pay, they charged us $10 for a less than medium size pumpkin!? Needless to say I put one of them back. I didn’t think it was worth it. Then we go up to the Storefront looking forward to getting some hot apple cider and fresh baked apple cider donuts. The whole store was changed, there were no donuts other than ones that were imported from Illinois. No hot cider; however, there was cider slushy’s, and those were good. For a pack of four apple cinnamon dumplings it was $25. One caramel apple was $8.00. I just couldn’t believe the prices. I have to say I was very disappointed this year going to Apple works since they’ve changed owners. It just feels like a moneymaking place instead of a family oriented place. Also, last, but not least no pets allowed anymore. My dogs love going there and it was always fun to see other people bring theirs. If your a dog lover❣️
After we left the Apple works, we ran to Walmart to pick up a couple of things. On the way out, they had pumpkins for sale $4.50. The pumpkin on the left was from Walmart, the pumpkin on the right was from Apple Works and that’s the best one we could find!
Although it’s not the same experience, the experience that we had at Apple Works was not the same experience that we’ve had in previous years.

We weren't able to find any pumpkins that weren't damaged. You have to park far away now and walk on the road where cars go way too fast and kick up gravel dust. You could take the tram, but it's a long wait. Most parents weren't watching their kids. I miss the old apple works. Overpriced apple cider and other goods.

Everyone was enjoying the day. Great music was being played on the stage, close to the Hot Dumpling trailer, so it was a perfect place to enjoy everything!
