We were in from out of town for a family emergency and we called a record 14 vets and South Bend Animal Clinic was the only vet willing to squeeze us in during the pandemic. Thankfully they did as our dear boy had a hemangiosarcoma that left attended could have ruptured. Thanks again for taking us in when we needed a vet most.

We were visiting from out of state and our 13 1/2 yo Golden Retriever, Cooper, had a large tumor that Dr.Duncan found through an X-ray. Sadly we decided it was too large to operate and was causing him some pain and made the tough decision to put him down. Dr. Duncan went out of her way to make us feel good about our decision and was able to get us in to help Cooper go over the rainbow bridge. The entire staff was very friendly and total professionals that cared about Cooper in his final days. We want to thank Dr Duncan and the entire staff for helping a very difficult situation at least go smoothly and with dignity. Thank you again for your amazing and caring help during a difficult situation along with the limitations with COVID I would recommend Dr Duncan and staff to anyone wanting a caring and knowledgeable staff. Much appreciated, Cory and Judy Cooper too!

Today we had to put our beloved Chico to sleep. This was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. The staff were all very supportive and handled our situation very well. They went as far as lighting a candle for our little guy

She is a wonderful that but she has a mobile business now. That was an old clinic so unfortunately this is bad information.

There was one vet there at the time, I took my dog in around 4 pm early July. My dog was going through an episode due to a heart murmur. The vet was a younger woman and let me just say, not a fan. She was pretty rude. I mentioned that my dog, who I received from a family friend, could have been from a puppy mill. I mentioned this because I thought something like that would be important for a vet to know, so they have a better understanding. She immediately responded (kind of aggressively), "okay well that doesn't change the fact that he's going through heart failure." She asked to do blood work, I agreed and waited over an hour then heard from her that "that [they] are closing soon; he won't make the transfer [to the emergency clinic], so it's best to put him down". I simply asked if she could go check on him to see if he was doing better because around 10-20 minutes minutes before that she said, "he is doing good, we're going to transfer him to the emergency clinic." They never transferred him because she came back out to give me some news; she said, "after I talked to you, I went to check up on him and he started declining." So I just simply asked for her to check on him once more before I make the decision to put my 7 month old MALE (they wrote female on his paper) dog down. She REFUSED to do that. Which I don't know any good doctor or vet who would refuse that request. I can't tell you how many times I heard from her that "[they] are closing soon." It felt like I had to make that decision at that very moment because they were closing soon and it felt like that was the only thing on her mind, but I made it and paid $541 for the oxygen given to him, for him to be put down, for the injection to clear his lungs from the liquid that was in them, and to get his ashes back. About a week later i got a call saying his ashes were ready for pick up. My mom picked them up and they never gave me my late dog's harness and leash back. I called to ask why I didn't get those things back, the lady on the phone said she couldn't find them and that it was weird because "[they're] usually pretty good about keeping track of those things." She said she would give me a call if they found it; I never got that call. I asked my parents if it's normal for vets to keep the collars/harnesses and leashes if you put your animal down. They said, "no, it's not their's to keep." I'm never taking my other dog there, especially not with his extraordinary expensive harness. I would not risk losing that one. I am NOT happy with this clinic and my family went there for years before we switched to a vet that does house calls (due to how old my mom's dog was before she passed) I would recommend that vet 1000x more than the SBAC, but this was an emergency visit during the day.

We have taken our medium dog there for 5 years. Always treated professionally & warmly. Vets & Assistants were so kind & patient & compassionate with our now almost 15 year old dog. The groomer groomed our dog in the last year. My husband loved the cut. He even was expressive about it many months later on our recent visit. Even received a follow-up call by the staff to make sure we understood our dog's restrictions after a leg injury. We are happy with the long term care we have received.

3 weeks to get an appointment! Plus no cars in parking lot, no one inside, but too "booked" to take a walk-in. Maybe not really a vet and just a front for some illegal business.

This review is for the dog grooming part of SBAC. I like this veterinary office- but i will not have my dog groomed here again. I thought it would be more convenient being closer to my home. I don't like that all the animals that are being groomed that day have to be dropped off at the same time between 0730-0800. This may be because she is the only groomer- but I prefer appointment times. My dog isn't in a cage waiting to be groomed, and I'm not waiting hours to pick up. But mostly I was unhappy with the haircut. My dog appeared just choppily cut with a clipper. Paws and legs were not sculpted at all- just clippered close- and kinda unevenly. Weirdly out of proportion with the body. Like a bad "puppy cut". Face and ears looked good. Lesson learned.
