I live in Roanoke. They start shooting on the outdoor range way before 10 am before they open (today, it was about 8:15 am). It's almost every day. They need to do better and respect others' peace and enjoyment of their outdoor space.

Went to shoot today and wanted outdoor range. Inside staff was nice. Got to the outdoor range and the guy working was rude. I've been several times before and told him so, but treated me and my family like we've never been there. After shooting our handguns, went up to the big range to shoot long rifle. Mind you I'm fully aware of how to handle a weapon. So we sit at the 300 yard table, get everything out and he come and says " only members who pay 400 a year can use 300 yard ranges and higher and I know you didn't buy a membership " how, cause the way I was dressed? So he says move your stuff over to the 200 yard bench or I'll kick you out. So we did. Then he literally hovers around me for the next ten minutes. Mind you, we had all our safety equipment, gun safety tags etc...so long story short, if you want to shoot over 200 yards with a long rifle, be prepared to pay 400 for the yearly membership.

Chris is a hothead. he shows young adults zero respect. He has anger issues and is not afraid to show it. he kicked me and my friend out of the indoor range. shortly after, other employees from the range called us and apologized for his behavior and offered a refund on our next trip back. i have heard many other bad experiences that mention chris. ask around, you’ll see. i would not recommend coming here.

I love Hillside. Not only do they have great ranges ,but also the best Gun Store. Chris is all about getting you paired up with a great gun that you can handle. He's a wonderful teacher also. I just bought my new Canik 9mm from Hillside. Can't wait to hit the range.

Chris is fantastic. Took the wife there on her birthday this past January for her birthday. The VIP class is very thorough and worthwhile. What an amazing place that made us feel right at home!

Went 3 times this year for pheasant hunt. 1st time ok. 2nd time a reservation and asked about bird prices. Told $25 a bird which is what the website said. Got there and charged $27.50 a bird. Not pleased but already there. I have a young dog and wanted 1 more hunt. Called a week ahead and was told they still had pheasant , made reservation for next week. Got there after a long drive and was told they had no birds left. Planted them all over the weekend. Said there should be birds left if I wanted to go out and then pay any got. Went out and found 3 dead birds and a lot of feathers and shot shells. Went in and voiced my displeasure and was told they tried to call 3 times. Never left voice mail and they don`t text. Said VM did not allow message. Liars. Checked phone . 1 call and voice mail works fine. Said they dont reserve birds. What? Then why reserve a hunt. Said I had been there multiple times and may not come back. Told to my face . Dont need you we have plenty of hunters.

Hillside hosts The Well Armed Woman every third Thurs evening. It has helped me to be familiar and comfortable with my gun. Chris and Alysha are great teachers!
