The Empire House Hotel is a historic hotel located right on the water with an amazing and peaceful view of the Ohio River. Built in 1816, it is a stronghold and hidden gem with a Victorian aesthetic that allows guests to get lost in time. The accommodation includes very comfortable rooms and multi-bedroom apartments, which are great for a family or group getaway and better than a chain hotel. Some beds are softer, while others are a little hard, and some bathroom amenities show a bit of age but are spotless. The hotel features a second-floor porch and desk overlooking the river, which is very relaxing. The owner is wonderful, very accommodating, and makes the experience a pleasure. The location is awesome, with the riverfront path just outside the door. Walkability is excellent, allowing guests to walk to have breakfast and dinner, with a quaint little strip just around the corner. There are great family restaurants and an awesome bar within walking distance. Nearby activities include shopping, eating, and casinos just down the road. The area is very safe with no concerns. Overall, it is a very comfortable hotel with everything needed for a great experience, making guests wish they could stay longer and definitely return soon.
