I've been doing business in pawn shops for almost 40 years. Buying, selling, and loaning when times demanded. Over the years, and over 50 different pawn shops I've been in, Portage Pawn King has always proven to be the best. Great bunch of people behind the counter willing to work with me throughout the years I've walked through their doors. I consider them friends of mine.

Very polite, informative in all areas. Cannot ask for a better group of people, they treat you like you matter and not just another customer walking in the store. Definitely one of my favorite stores to shop at, I would highly recommend them to friends and family.John Clardy(AKA, Big John-Hobart Indiana)

Sold me a fake Gibson Supreme Root Beer, it was not made in USA, they stated it was worth over 4k, sold it less than half that, tells me something wrong as someone knew it was fake it appears, then had employees sell it, they tried to say same us on ebay over 4k. but those were real gibson. I asked about flaws they ignored me. Watch out and three day returns. Don't by high end unless your an expert.

Stopped in to try out the Marshall JCM 900 amplifier. Was first forced by the half-man at the counter to wear a mask...which I hesitantly did. Guess this half-man must be a Illinois transplant simply goose stepping to Lightfoot and Pritzker's dictatorial orders...problem is we are in Indiana! For a music store (Royal Music) I'd expect the equipment to be set up and ready to try/test...not here. When I asked the woman who was working the counter if I could try it out she said to go ahead. Let's call her "meme girl" because she looks exactly like a person you would find pictured in a meme complaining about conservative Trump supporters. So, with "meme girl's" blessing i went to test out my probable purchase, barring any functionality flaws, of course. Unfortunately no speaker or power cords were hooked up or available to hook up. I went to the goose stepping half-man to ask him if i could try it out...after 10 minutes he had scavengered the needed cords to get things hooked up. Now, you must understand this is a $1200+ piece of equipment meant to perform loud music. Naturally, being a used item, the only way to find out if spending $1200 is justifiable on a used piece of gear is to test it properly. I proceeded to test the functionality of the item, starting off at low volume and ultimately turning it up to make sure it functioned properly. So far so good. Now just need to play for a bit to make sure nothing shorts out when the amp is warmed up and the tubes are hot. Upon turning up to 50% volume, Mr. Goose Stepper starts shouting "Sir, you need to turn it down, Im on the phone and have customers." I guess the goose stepping half-man didnt consider me to be a customer. I wasn't there buying video games! I came to purchase a high end, very expensive piece of musical gear. I tried to explain to him the only way to test it is to turn it up and try it. Half-Man Goose Stepper became more irate by my reasoning...his video game customers were apparently more important. "Meme Girl" felt she had to throw her jack boots around and get tough by asking me to leave the store. Sorry, but I will not visit this place again. They have the name "Royal Music" on their sign, but dont have a clue how a music store works! They should change the name to Gestapo Video Games and Goose Steppers.

I bought some silver from them that they noted as 1 oz silver. I bought 12, seemed to be a very fair price until I put them on the scale. They were 25 grams not 31. I looked the coin up on the internet and it confirmed 25 grams instead of the 31 that makes a troy ounce. They did agree to give me a refund but now the silver is worth more than I paid for it so im supposed to reward them for misleading me? I asked for the 2oz of silver I was missing, no go! They should give me the 36 dollars to make up the difference before I report them to the BBB, just a thought!

I bought an over priced guitar from there and I realized that the neck of the guitar had a crack in the wood. refused to take back my guitar and wouldn’t give me my money back. Never again will I give my business to pawn king.
