“newly remodeled store so not many cashiers at all, mostly self checkout, i shouldnt have to do the job of ringing and bagging my purchase then have to prove i paid for it on my way out cuz they stop you to check your purchase, i usually don't mind but when there are 3 ot 4 ppl infront of me with cart fulls of stuff and i got a bag of dog food i dont want to wait while they check the receipts. if you dont trust me to ring up my items then put cashiers back on registers like it should be. i wouldnt even mind if it was like aldi and they ring you up then you bag it yourself. that would be a lot more effective and efficient in preventing theft and customers being able to purchase their items and leave. i was a manager at Walgreens and i couldnt imagine not having a cashier yet making our customers prove they purchased the items they are leaving my store with??‍♀️. its almost like a slap in the face or just the assumption that corporations have that everyone is a thief. again they need cashiers so ppl cant steal that way and the honest ppl dont gotta wait to prove they purchased their items. Still agee and glad they are bringing more cashier's back, but a better idea is cashier's checking ppl out should have a divider and those customers can just walk out. i seen a lady in the store today, opening items in her cart, checked out thru self checkout leaving several large tag items in the cart and when she walked out infront of me she told the guy she was returning the opened items but the store didnt have that same item? i thought you couldn't walk thru the door with an open vacumn cleaner, air fryer, and ice maker and just go shopping, if she came in for a return or exchange she should have been directed to customer service. And the guy looked at her receipt for the stuff she REALLY paid for n she went on her way. smh and people wonder why the prices in our economy are rising like crazy. The company is losing more money in theft than they would if they PAID for better loss prevention services.”

“Look, I just have to tell you that I met the best worker in the world at the Portage IN meijers store. And no, this is not a paid advertisement. It's just recognition of a store employee named Sidney. I was at the store, which was crowded, and had almost been run over by at least three people who like to use shopping carts as weapons? (You know the type). That had me thinking "so this is why God made guns," then out of nowhere this guy with this smile that lights up the place stops me and says "you definitely look like you could use some help." I said I was actually just trying to remember what I didn't have in groceries, and he probably couldn't help me unless he could read (very confused) minds. We talked a second, and he got me to laughing. Then I went on. I thought "I have to get his name so I can tell the manager how great he is" and went back to find him. There he was helping out this handicapped guy. Now, in all fairness, I ran into this same guy when I entered the store, and I would not label him as the happiest person on earth (understatement). But Sidney has him smiling and laughing as they spoke together -- which is really, really close to a miracle. Sidney is everything you want in a store employee anywhere. If you're in a lousy mood, go to the Portage IN Meijer and ask for "Sidney." He is one amazing soul. Thanks.”
