I took my vehicle in because the check engine light came on, mechanic brought out his code reader and gave me the code for a faulty VVT solenoid. Naturally, I’m like “darn, let me schedule to bring it in.” I dropped it off in the morning and they ran “diagnostic”. They called me to say it was the exact same code as before abd that it would cost me almost $400 to replace both VVT solenoids and the oil. Confused, I asked why the oil, as it had been replaced about a month prior and still had several thousand miles left before its next change. “Oh, we just suggest it when we don’t know when it was last done.” There’s a VERY obvious oil change due date sticker on the windshield, so, strike one.
I eventually decided I would do it myself, as the parts alone were much cheaper than the estimate they gave me. I got my car back and popped the hood and removed the cover plate and found this (see attached). Those are the wires to the connector for the intake solenoid, chewed on by a critter. That’s it. A connector. It cost me like, 40 bucks to replace. Hoosier Auto charged me 90 dollars to “diagnose” an issue that was so blatant I found it in seconds, which means they either 1. Didn’t even pop the hood, which I would think would be par for the course for diagnosing this fault code/issue, or 2. They did, saw the issue, and decided to try to charge me for the solenoids, the oil, and the labor anyway.
Either way, not a good look. Don’t go here.

So I had a panic the pump. I was traveling through the area and was pretty tired when I stopped for gas for my new vehicle. Didn’t really think too much about it and grabbed the nozzle next to the gas pumps and started filling. About 7 gallons in I looked down and realized the nozzle was green. I thought I put Diesel in my car.
I called the closest shop knowing I was going to have to pump the tank and these guys were the ones that came to my aid. They were there with a tow truck in no time.
Jason was so kind while I was kicking myself internally for being so irresponsible. He had it loaded on the truck when he mentioned, you know I’m surprised more people don’t have this problem here. They flip flopped the nozzle colors. And that when I realized I hadn’t messed up as bad as I thought.
Huge shout out to Jason! Thank you for your patience and kindness while I figured out how bad I messed up.
If I ever was in this area again, I would totally use this business. They’re awesome!

Broke down on the highway 200 miles from home and got towed here. One of the mechanics was kind enough to give me a ride into town while I waited for a ride home. Everyone was super friendly and patient, and held onto my car for a week while I secured a ride back once it was done.

I took my car to Hoosier Auto with an engine code stating knock sensor and misfire. After spending over $600 on two separate attempts to try to get the problems fixed I still have the same engine light and the same codes. And the same problems. Finally decided to trade the car in and get something new. Waste of time and waste of money at Hoosier Auto. Will never waste my time or money going there again and strongly advise anyone else to find a decent competent mechanic instead.
