I have been shopping here for more years then I care to admit, today was my worst experience ever in any one of the three Gus Bock stores. My wife and I spent twenty minutes trying to fill our list of items to purchase in a newly laid out store no one asked if we needed or wanted help we got passed many times by assorted staff members. Jackson appeared from the back room (first time we saw him) asked if we needed help and we did he was very helpful with finding our last items. Maquire and Nates function in life seems to be stand at the cash register and chat loud enough to be heard through out the store. We will be back but hopefully when the manager on duty supervises the staff. We returned today Friday 9/27/2024 at 9:30 AM regular staff we recognized from earlier visits What a difference a different day and crew makes

A review from my wife:
Yesterday my husband sent me to the hardware store with a list of things to buy. Admittedly I am not the most maintenance savvy shopper. I was greeted at the door by a kind older gentleman who walked me around the store and helped me find every single item on the list that I needed. He was professional, friendly, and super helpful. I had an excellent experience and I'll definitely be coming back. I give Ace Hardware in Munster five bags of popcorn and two paint roller covers in 1/2-in nap or whatever.

I just wanted to say more people should seek out the smaller hardware stores. I broke a ford chip car key, now I coulda did the whole Amazon buy it, take it somewhere to cut and then bring it home and program it.
PITA right, not to mention trying to find the 2nd key cuz u need both to program.
I decided to try ACE on 45th, and I'm glad I did. Not only do they cut the chip keys, but they program them right there. Everyone there was nice and willing to help. I highly suggest for alot of your tech questions and personalized needs seek out an ACE instead of the big box stores.

The perfect neighborhood Ace Hardware. They always have what I need and fresh popcorn on the weekends. My kids love the mini carts for them. Also great rewards program through the app. Occasionally I will find the best sales here on soil and mulch in the Spring.

Kayla should be fired. Every time I’ve come in there she seems to have new criteria on why she cannot shake a can of paint I purchased from them. First it was because they no longer carried that brand and they could replace if it spilled. Then it was that I removed too much paint (maybe 1 cup to do a few drawer fronts). now today she said although it’s full, she cannot shake this gallon cause it’s opened and air has gotten inside!!! Meanwhile every other employee has re-shaken my used gallons. Her stupidity has cost this place another customer. I live 2 blocks away and have been a loyal shopper even though they have higher prices. This place has gone downhill because their staff is more interested in their phones then helping customers. Drop the attitude and help people or get a different job. Good bye Gus Bock, I’ll drive further to Menards or Home Depot.
