I've had an account with First Merchants for years and my family, for decades. I went in to get a monthly statement for my checking account and to fax some papers. They were going to charge me 10$ for a statement. As she was looking up the fax fee I told her to forget it. I'm completely done with this bank. I've never had to pay as long as I held an active account with them. They are the only bank I've ever seen to have so many fees ripping off so many loyal customers.

This is branch is not specifically horrible, it's the policies placed by this bank that reinforces the staff's restrictions. I've been banking here for years. My father and his father; everyone in my family has banked with First Merchants for years. I still have an active account with them and have never been charged for monthly statements or to send fax. I go in to get my statement and that stop me with a $10 fee. I don't use or have a debit card for this account and I used to receive my statement in the mail, but they stopped sending that without notice. There's no way I'm paying a $10 fee to see my own account statement. These new fees are unnecessary and no one was notified of these changes ahead of time. My family can't believe the fees either and we will all be changing banks. Banks like First Merchants are rapidly and deliberately pushing people away. Cashapp and Venmo could never do as much damage to these banks and branches as they are doing to themselves.

After being hacked and scammed I went to my bank Tillotson St., Muncie, In. They were kind, informative and helpful. I highly recommend this bank.

Never authorized overdraft protection, got charged 200$. Everytime I log into banking, i have to put my phone number. It's a hassle. Closed my account and taking my money elsewhere

We have banked with First Merchants for over 9 years. Over that time we have had several issues with poor customer service and very unprofessional behavior. Today was the stopping point for us. We called in to discuss an issue with our account and talked to the manager Dustin Butterfield. He was very rude when speaking with us and when we told him we we're taking our business else where, he stated we'd have the same issues with any bank. He even hung up without any type of good bye or even asking if that was all we needed. We have had the same issues in the past with him being rude and unprofessional. Also he will not return your call so if you want to speak with him just keep calling till they let you! Other things that has helped us decide to go to another bank was the fact that they are way behind on the times. They do not offer some things other banks do such as depositing checks through ATM or internet. And what they do offer usually takes a couple days to actually get into your account. Other banks are in the next day. Plus closing at 5:30 just does not work these days people work till than and never have a chance to get to the bank.
