What a shithole bank ran by idiots and thieves. I received an escrow over payment check and I cashed it 2 weeks later with no problems. I wake up check my account and they stole it back from me with no notification. I better be recieving a free month of an mortgage payment for this bullshit.

What a disappointment of a bank. Local branches close to be run through ATM which are down a large portion of the time. Been a member since the 90's that's the 1990's, only to deal with issues of my information being incorrect. The same information I corrected in 2018. The people at the next town over my new "local" branch is the only reason I gave them 2 stars. They deserve better the banking institution, not so much.

DO NOT ENTER!!!! This bank is a train wreck!!! No one working here knows how to do anything or look any information up! My mortgage was purchased during the acquisition of Level One Bank. Level One's website is now "down" and the phone number "down" as well. All I need is 2022 tax information on my account. I have been on the phone with First Merchants and DMI for 1 hour 45 minutes, have been transferred back and forth, continuously asking for me to verify my account. I am beyond frustrated. I am going to refinance through my credit union or sell this house to get out from using First Merchants!

To be fair the customer service reps have usually been nice and helpful. My issue is with their app. It's just awful. Almost daily I have to set up the app it resets my preferred pin code to open app. I need to go through extra security then set up pin again. This has been an ongoing issue for some time. Most recently it wouldn't allow me to deposit a check asking for an email that it doesn't recognize. I ended up depositing it in one of my other 2 financial institutions where I never have issues. They need to hire a new technology team and focus on a better and improved APP experience.

So I opened an account with First Merchants because they are local and I was using their ATM anyway. I first tried to exchange $2000 worth of 20's for 100's and she said I need to open an account. Ok so I did. A week later I was due to go to Thailand and I thought I might take cash just in case. I withdrew $1800 and left some money in the account for a few autopay bills I have. Fast forward I am in Tokyo and can't sign in to my online account because it wants to send me an SMS for verification (Verizon phones don't work in Tokyo) So I sent them an email from the email address I have registered along with copies of my ID and other papers. They said I have to call their 1800 number for verification. So I checked my balance with my card (The 6th ATM I tried finally worked) and it says $0. I get an email this morning insisting I call their 1800 number. Worst mistake of my life! Now I will get home with no cellphone because my cellphone company tried to charge my account and it didn't work. Not only that but I had some jewelry to send to Thailand from the USA and they can't send it because my account doesn't work. If you travel outside your state don't plan on using this bank. the first thing I am going to do when I get home is go withdraw whatever is left in my account and close it. Big mistake going with a 2 bit mickey mouse bank from bumpkin Indiana!

Absolutely the worst customer service. Extremely rude. I waited to speak with a banker about a private matter and the teller tried to get me to discuss a private matter in front of other customers.
