Very stressful and disappointing experience that lasted 9 months! O’Neal Tax Service was ill-equipped to handle out-of-state returns but took ours anyway. They were consistently unavailable due to their extremely limited business hours throughout tax season. They had our tax documents for 5 months before they were filed despite numerous calls from us asking when our taxes would be ready. An extension was never filed for our out-of-state return leading to a penalty and fees over $1000; also several mistakes were noticed with the tax forms that she had completed. When this was brought to the attention of Elaine O’Neal, she was defensive and tried to blame the other state’s policies rather than the fact that she had not filed the correct paperwork. She then tried to charge an additional $100 for the paperwork she completed to correct her mistake. There were several more mistakes that I had to take the time to correct before submitting amendments to both states (IN and NY). A month later, we received a notice of penalty and fees from Indiana DOR for close to $5000 due to another mistake on Elaine O’Neal’s part. Again, she was uncooperative and evasive in regard to rectifying this issue. We had to take several trips to her office to discuss the matters with her as she was so evasive via telephone and email, as well as the fact that this office does not utilize e-sign for their documents. This was very inconvenient considering we live almost 45 minutes away. Between the time my husband had to take off work, the gas and mileage back and forth, the fees, and the emotional toll that appealing penalties in two different states (with very little assistance from Elaine) caused, we feel scammed. Save yourself the stress and headache- I wish we did!

I wouldn't go back there again. Just a waist of time and gas. Back and forth. Then back and forth to the post office. I'll go back to Jackson Hewitt. There I never had a problem. And if there was, they would fix it. Not make me run around to fix it.

I highly recommended O’Neal Tax Service to my friend. My friend was new to Indiana and nervous about how to file taxes and what she needed. She made an appointment and while hanging up heard the receptionist make an unprofessional comment. She was hurt and I was embarrassed. My friend called back and canceled her appointment. I will never recommend O’Neal Tax Service to anyone. I don’t care for rude people

This is Priscilla Cliver. I wrote a bad review yesterday because I recommend Oneal Tax Service to a friend. My friend had a bad experience with the receptionist. This morning the owner called to apologize to me and asked for my friend phone number. I want everyone to know I highly recommend going to Oneal Tax Service. They are very professional and knowledgeable about taxes
