The store was clean and organized. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I appreciated that they had handicap carts. However, the bathrooms were apparently being worked on and out of order, which was very inconvenient.

If I could give negative stars I would. How can you have 15 employees working and your feed department shelves are empty???? I drove 30 minutes to get horse/chicken feed and yet not one bag was on the shelf. Rural King do better and stop hurting your customers, congratulations I’ll be taking my business to TSC!

Update: can't find what I am looking for most of the time.
Covid or not, no matter what I do to protect myself or others, if the cashier not wearing a mask OPENLY COUGHS IN MY FACE, I'm toast.

Don't normally do this but here goes... Terrible experience today at Monticello Rural King. Went to buy a new patio umbrella and found one. As they were having 50% sale on patio items, decided to get a new fire pit too. When we went to check out, and the umbrella had no tag or bar code The cashier then informed us that WE needed to go get a picture of the bar code otherwise she couldn't ring it up. We questioned this as there were PLENTY of employees in the store that could have performed this task instead of the CUSTOMER! She was incredibly rude especially to my wife. We told her we wanted to speak with the manager. When the manager finally showed up and got involved he just escalated the situation. As a matter of fact he was just as rude as the cashier! Not one time did the manager ask how we could make this situation better and make things right. After some heated discussion about the situation, all he could muster was "I've heard all I've needed to hear" and tried to bully us. So all I got from this experience today was a shopping cart with the things we wanted to purchase sitting at the checkout as we walked out the door. Won't be back as long as those two are working there!

Large inside with a great selection. The customer service is lacking though. Prices range from good deals to over priced. Do your own research.

If you go into this store, you better know where it is and how to find it yourself. There's a real lack of on the floor customer service here. Went in the other day to look for a replacement spark plug for my mower. Went to the aisle they were kept in. They had a couple of books from Champion and another brand that you could have used to look up your model number and then you cross referenced for your part or spark plug. The only issue was the 3 books they had were probably 20 years old and they were in pieces laying all over the shelves. I did my best for about 15 minutes to find a plug that would work in my mower. Finally I went up to the front check out desk and asked a young cashier if there was anyone around that could help me back in the spark plugs. She called someone on the walkie-talkie and he said, "Yeah, when I get done with what I'm doing I guess I can go back there". I thought, well don't knock me over with your enthusiastic customer service, dude. So I went back to the spark plug aisle and waited for another 15 minutes. No one showed up. So I went out to my car and ran down to Kroger's to pick up a couple of items and then went back to Rural King and the spark plug aisle again. I wasn't gone but 10 minutes. But I waited around for someone, anyone that I could have asked for help and saw no one. After another 20 minutes of waiting and looking at more pieces of reference books on plugs, I went up front to the cashier who had originally called for someone to help me. I told her that she lost a sale and a customer. She had no idea what I was talking about or who I was. I told her that I had been waiting for someone to come and help me back in spark plugs and no one had ever shown up. I told her I had been waiting for a total of 40+ minutes and hadn't seen anyone to help me. It's too bad because it's the lack of customer service in these stores that will lose them their business. I know I won't be going back to this store.

There are many items that aren't priced. There was a clearance table with shirts but no price. Then they had 2 bleaches next to each other, one gallon was $4.49 the other $1.99. There was nothing to say those prices were for the bleaches. Even the sales associate didn't know. I needed a set of bolt extractors and the tool section was in total disarray. I couldn't find it and nobody around to help. Then I was looking for electric fence posts. I found 3 different kinds and no prices. I could have easily spent over $300, instead I spent around $40. Needless to say I drove almost an hour to go to Rural King and was very disappointed.
