I usually don't leave completely negative reviews, but there's always a first time for everything. Or so they say.
Store has changed quite a bit in the past few years. It really used to be stuffed with useful, inexpensive, and/or interesting products and foods of all types. After the closest store to me closed, I stopped going, but after I discovered one closer than across the city, I decided to check it out. (I'd been to the one across town, and was extremely underwhelmed, but figured that was a fluke.)
First, despite being a physically larger store, it has less than half of what it used to. In fact it feels like a warehouse. A ¾ empty warehouse.
Second, there are only two isles with food, and nothing frozen or refrigerated. Having less than ¼ the food they used to.
Third, there is nothing interesting at all. Way less electronics, and the kind of electronics you'll find at a gas station. And only a little more than a gas station would have. Every "department" has many fewer items than before. And while the furniture is spread out and takes up more floorspace, that's only because they have nothing in racks, and you can easily walk between around and between EVERYTHING. Meaning that even though the building could have 3 floors, every bit of space taller than a couch is wasted. Though the shelves are probably 6 foot something tall.
Fourth, not only is there is NOTHING interesting or unusual (Not even stuff other stores won't or can't sell.), but it's all the same stuff EVERYBODY ELSE SELLS! (A good 1/4 of the reason to go used to be to see what they had.)
Fifth, it's not only boring stuff you could buy ANYWHERE, it's at the same price too! So no savings! I think $1.25 Tree is much cheaper. (I call them that because they sell NOTHING for less than $1.25 anymore.)
Sixth, they would be horrendously understaffed, if people actually shopped there. The stores I've seen had 1 person at the register, and MAYBE 1 more somewhere in the store.
I've been to three of the "New" stores, and can't think of any reason I'd want to go back.
So in summery:
Stores look and feel like a ¼ full warehouse.
Next to no electronics, barely any food, boring cheap tools, etc.
Nothing you can't find anywhere else.
Everything priced at or higher than normal prices you'd pay anywhere else.
Almost entirely unstaffed. Which is not a problem, because I've only ever seen maybe 6 other people shopping there, or I'm the only shopper.
I don't understand how they can afford to keep their doors open.
Maybe some poor investors won't be getting their investments back at all. Or some fool bank lent them the money they are burning through.

Had the best experience here we have ever had at a furniture store. Ray helped us find the item we wanted at another location, and helped us secure additional discounts. Superior customer service!

This is a good place. My wife and I were shopping for teenagers and had no idea what to get. The manager took us around the store with great suggestions and our party turned out good. We need more managers that care about their job like he does.

Big Lots has consistently been a pleasant time for me, especially during the busy holiday season. I was pleasantly surprised to find them open on Christmas Eve, and they truly came in for the win! The store is always well-stocked and tidy, making it easy to navigate and find what I need. The workers at Big Lots deserve a special mention for their friendly and helpful attitude. They go above and beyond to assist customers, making the shopping experience enjoyable. I've purchased several pieces of furniture from Big Lots, and their partnership with progressive leasing has been a game-changer. It allows for convenient and flexible payment options. I highly recommend Big Lots for their excellent service, quality products, and customer-centered approach. They have become my go-to store for all my furniture and household needs. Keep up the great work, Big Lots!"
