Walter E. Smithe furniture is a company that wants to ensure customer satisfaction. I had a small issue and they went above and beyond to help me work through the problem and make sure that I received my furniture timely and that I was happy with their customer service. I have designed my whole house using WES just 2 years ago. I am in the process of designing our next home and will definitely be purchasing from Walter E. Smithe again.

My husband and I went in there some time back to look for a living room furniture set and were immediately greeted by a salesperson who was flat out rude and judgmental. She told us that we were obviously in the wrong store. Never judge a book by its cover, you lost money that day.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Merrillville branch today, to see if they had a cord for my power recliner n that had been destroyed while moving. I did not get the recliner from Walter E Smithe at all, but they were still willing to help. There is a young lady named Debbie, who went above and beyond to assist me completely with follow up included. She is truly an asset to the organization and I would like to personally say Thank you! What a great team!

We bought all of the furniture for our new house here. The initial delivery was easy and went off without a hitch. We changed our mind about how we wanted to use some of the furniture and we called back to buy an additional bar stool. We were told it would be there in a week. Every week I would email to see if it was in and I was told "next week." I finally had my husband call and then all of a sudden it was in the following Monday. 3 weeks later than the original estimate. We went to pick it up today and it was pouring down rain. I asked the lady if she had any plastic we could put over it and I was told, they don't provide any materials or loading assistance and that should have been made clear to me. When I pushed back, she reluctantly went and got a bag that fit the stool perfectly. So, they have them, they just really don't want to give them out. It feels like you only get their good customer service if you spend thousands of dollars. The first purchase was good, but this most recent one has been a pain from start to finish.

My wife and I stopped in looking to furnish a new room addition and the attention (warm, friendly, no pressure) we received from Sunnie and the store manager Kip, was above and beyond. The whole experience was surreal as compared to the 3 other furniture stores we were in. We absolutely recommend stopping in and chatting with Sunni about your needs!

My furniture dropoff was stress-free & I was VERY impressed that the delivery staff were so careful and attentive. They were very careful when moving the items. There was a factory defect with one of the items and Cory from Corporate contacted me IN ADVANCE and we put an exchange plan in place that I am happy with. It was not Walter E. Smith's fault and I was satisfied that they were proactive in informing me rather than trying to sell anything faulty. The communication has been superb. I would order from this store again. Cory has been AMAZING to work with! Happy Customer! A++ I will be back!!

My wife and I were looking for a new couch/sectional and Arielle was wonderful to work with. She didnt apply pressuresales tactics. She gave us time to walk around the showroom floor, she made us coffee,... In short, Arielle was basically awesome and made us secure in our purchase of a couch that is coming from the showroom floor not the warehouse. She was a delight and has a keen eye for style !

Entertainment Center is nice, but the handles are the wrong color that I ordered. The doors for both upper and lower hutch cabinets won’t stay open, they won’t stay in place while watching tv. Went back to the store the same day, was told someone named Cory would be contacting me about correcting both issues. Waited 4 days, no call from Cory. Called corporate office, expressed same issues, was told they would call me back today. Guess what, no call back today. Horrific customer service, will never do business with them again. What a shame that they use cheap hardware on a nice piece of furniture. You would think that a $7K item would have better hardware and better customer service. Seems like once they make the sale they don’t care anymore.Also noticed the handles aren’t level or at the same height. I’m shocked that this wasn’t noticed by their quality control team before delivery. If I wanted a low quality wall unit I would have bought from Walmart.

This is a bait and switch store!! Come in and I can get you some quality furnishings for very little money! I went in and literally had a heart attack, because I had never seen prices so high! Money is tight! I can not make my furniture right now!!!!!

My husband and I worked with Julie P., she was wonderful throughout the whole process! She helped by designing our rooms for us, came out to measure everything, and then picked out every piece to show us! We couldn't have asked for anything better, she really listened to our details about what we wanted and did a terrific job! I highly recommend going to see her to help out with your dream room!
