We have been the customer with Hicksgas company since 2017. We have a lake house witch we winterize during winter so we use the gas only at the beginning and at the end of heating seasons as a secondary heat source in addition to main heat source which is wood burning fireplace . We havent refill our propane tank in past 2,5 years. This month we received the letter from the company that NOW they have a fee of 199$ if you dont buy a gas from them in period of 18 months and that they will bill us this amount in 45 days if we don't do so. This is a new policy because nothing like that is mentioned in contract we signed 7 years ago. First of all , it is totally unfair that the company doesn't give you 18 months to do so since the new policy have taken place ! Totally unfair !!! In addition they would charge 300$ for pumping out unused gas , the gas I once paid for !!!! Be aware of this if you on are a hunt for a new gas tank provider. We are done with this company , we will shop around to find more honest and fair company. Now I have to waste 40% of my tank in less than a month so I dont have to be charge 300$! For the gas I once paid them. ?Outrageous!

Edit: I was contacted by a Hicksgas Customer Service Manager, Twila, who was extremely apologetic and blindsided by my review. We had a great conversation and she was genuinely concerned that she had not heard about any of the troubles I’d been through. She assured me my issues would be addressed, and told me to contact her directly anytime I couldn’t get any local Hicksgas person on the phone. I truly appreciate Twila’s sincere concern for the problems I had and her commitment to see them resolved. The below review goes into great detail, but if you don't have the time to read, here's the main take away - nonexistent and non-responsive customer service, and an absolutely painful experience with this company. Their only strong point is a water softener tech named Aaron. My wife and I purchased a home that already had Hicksgas propane and water softening equipment installed. The previous homeowner failed to inform Hicksgas that he had sold the house which shouldn't have been an issue, except that that propane tank was the underground type. Yes, Hicksgas rented an underground tank to a customer. After weeks of trying to get ahold of ANYONE at their office, I was able to schedule an appointment for a water softener tech and a propane truck to meet me at my home, but I still had yet to speak with a manager about the propane tank. It took me approximately two months to speak with a manager - this was two months of me calling, leaving messages, and sending emails without ever speaking with a manager. When I finally spoke with a manger, he told me that the position I was in (buying a home from someone who had not terminated their contract with Hicksgas, leaving behind a buried propane tank) was the reason they no longer rent underground tanks to customers. With the amount of time and energy I had to expend just to speak with a manager, I decided the easiest thing to do was to sign an agreement with Hicksgas and continue to use their service. By this time, it was the beginning of December and my tank was getting low on propane. I waited two weeks, with multiple attempts made to re-contact the same manager, before I reached out to a new propane provider. Hicksgas never sent me any paperwork to sign to continue to use their service. The new propane provider came to my rescue. They set an above ground tank and plumbed it in to keep us warm. Over the course of the next eight months, multiple attempts to have anyone at Hicksgas help us to solve the problem of their equipment being buried in our lawn went unanswered. My wife was finally able to find a way to contact someone higher up to get us resolution on the tank and we no longer buy our propane from Hicksgas.I thought that was the end of the nightmare with Hicksgas, but it wasn't. We still have the Hicksgas water softener - which has worked fine, we've never had an issue with it. However, we have had issues again with nonexistent, non-responsive customer service and billing. I called and left a voicemail, again, because nobody ever answers the phone, requesting a call back. I didn't get a call back from a customer service rep, I got a call back from a water softener tech, Aaron. I had met with Aaron before when he came to the house to check out the equipment. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and apologetic for the experiences we'd had with Hicksgas. Now he was calling me to assure me that he was helping to take care of my billing issue. I don't know what Hicksgas is paying Aaron, but I know it's not enough.I don't know how Hicksgas is still in business or how anyone else could've had a good experience with them. I've been a customer for a year and four months and it has been the absolute worst experience as a customer I've ever had.Do yourself a favor, find a different provider for these services.

We have a very similar experience to the two one star rated posts below. Moved into a home using hicks gas, zero and I mean absolutely ZERO customer service to come out for a tank check. Underground tank was possibly originally set poorly and sagged to where it would fill up with water at any rain. After a year and a half of trying to get ahold of someone they “attempted” to make things right. They reset the tank after a discussion of the only cost to me was for a new tank cover (~$700-ish). I decided that’s reasonable and just wanted the headache over. Fast forward a few months and I have a $3,000 bill and seemingly not a sole works there anymore to answer my “concerns”. I would rather smash by big toe with a hammer repeatedly than deal with this company ever again.

Switching gas providers was relatively easy. I called the office and Kelly let me know exactly what to do to start the process. Once the paperwork was completed, Brandon worked with me on a date to set the tank when yard conditions permitted. Also, Hicksgas provided competitive pricing and easy online account access.

Edit- They reset my tank today. Appreciate the front office making this right.Ok, this takes the cake. After a couple of years of poor service, we decided to switch to co-alliance. We would call and schedule prepay delivery and it would take them a week+ to deliver. We called Hicks and tell them that co-alliance was putting a tank in on the 26th. Hicks said it wouldn't be a problem, co-alliance would set the hicks tank aside and they will come pick it up after that. Well I guess they were upset we were switching, because they pulled our tank Today, the 18th. Need a fill, wait a week, need it pulled...almost next day service....If you switch, wait until the other tank is there...else your gonna be left in the cold.

Friendly, best pricing, and easy will call service. My only complaint is sometimes they don't answer the phone during regular business hours.

Says they're open but then you get there and they're closed for a 2hour and fifteen minute lunch break
