Units seem clean and secure. Can be difficult/inconvenient to get to if there’s a stopped train. Placement of entry keypad isn’t the greatest.

I had rented the biggest storage unit they had. Got it last year sometime. It was a pull-through. It was okay at first but it leaked water. I was aware and okay with it if I didn’t need to move. I wasn’t storing any boxes so no big deal. A little while after that they decided to do construction to build more units. The construction company made it a living hell to get into the storage facility. Meanwhile every time I’m there my vehicle would get dirty. A couple months ago one of the doors of my storage unit broke. They NEVER sent anyone out. Fast forward a couple weeks and the other door broke when I NEEDED to get in. Finally they sent someone over to fix it. Recently they raised the rates after there’s still ongoing construction and never gave us any sort of discount for the inconvenience. It’s THEIR choice to do construction and neglect their oldest customers/units why do we have to suffer because of it? I just moved out only 10 days into the month and they are not prorating my payment this month. What idiots.

They raised our rent price to double what we were paying. My husband goes there this morning to get a piece of our bunk beds that he had missed and even though the gate is supposed to be unlocked at 6am, it is now almost 730am and he still cannot get in. Since Hearthfire bought our storage facility it has been NOTHING but constant issues. This place needs to get it together. We are currently in the process of getting our stuff out so that we do not have to deal with them anymore.

They rented me a unit that was already occupied and then have been giving me the runaround about refunding my money. Place seems like a scam to me renting units that are occupied then keeping people's money..... You say you have no record of me renting a unit yet I have 14 email's between me and Steve repeatedly telling me how sorry he was and that he was refunding my money and now 2 weeks later I haven't received a refund and now haven't received a response in days so pretty much sounds like a scam to me. If I could post pictures I would show the payment verification from hearthfire self storage. You guys called me back multiple times to get the card number for the payment but cant return my calls about my refund. I was moving important items to storage and was told that there was a unit available in Laporte. When I showed up with a truck full of stuff to store the unit was already rented and I was told there was no more available units in Laporte and I would get my refund within 3 days. It's now 2 weeks later and now I get no response from your company? SCAM!!!!!!!!!! Update!!!!! I finally received my refund.

They’ve raised rates TWICE in the last year. Now I’m paying almost DOUBLE what I was before. I get greedy inflation but it’s for literally ZERO reason. My attempts for contact go unanswered. My door still falls down, there’s still a lake in front of my unit every time it rains. No replies but they sure email when the rent is due and when they’re raising rates. I could understand a rise in cost if they actually did something but alas, more dollar grabbing for the sake of grabbing dollars.

This place has really went downhill since being bought out from A-Z. Billing issues every month, can never get anyone on the phone, they don't call back when you leave messages, never answer emails, (when they do get back to you it's 3 or 4 days later). Gate issues almost every time you go, sometimes won't open at all, sometimes only after 10 or 15 times entering your code, of course it locks you out for a minute after a few tries so it takes forever. Many of the lights are out. Prices have increased...Seems like overall the new owners only care about taking money and not providing service.

Recently have apparently gone out of business, no longer called AZ Self Storage and their website is defunct. At time of writing, I am at the storage building on Detroit St. Laporte, IN and I can not get into the gate to then get to my storage unit because the gate security code has been changed. I received no information about a changed gate code or even about the business being closed or whatever they are doing. They have my possessions without me being able to get them in other words.
