I have been a lifelong patient of another Indianapolis hospital system. But living so close to Franciscan Hospital, I have started dealing with them some in recent years. I have now had surgery, outpatient exams and testing, ER visits and a Hospital stay at Franciscan. I have never had a bad experience. All of the doctors and staff have been so lovely and caring. My only complaint is that the Hospital is a bit confusing and difficult to get around in.

I am going to preface this review, as being solely based on the organization, and not the doctors, nurses, and staff at the offices. This organization is absolutely the worst, I go to a doctor not an organization, if that doctor leaves I want to follow them. Being able to have that conversation before they leave to know where they are going to be located is part of that PATIENT CARE, that Franciscan Health doesn't care about. This shows that this organization doesn't care about patients they only care about the money that get can get from us. I would advise, you to find a doctor that fits your needs, and if they leave follow them. Don't stay because of an organization. ESPECIALLY FRANCISCAN HEALTH they are the absolute worst.

My sister was there for surgery. The place was really clean. The staff were AMAZING. I walked in to a beautiful lullaby, which meant a baby was just born. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. I did an internship here before years ago. I would definitely recommend this hospital.

I gave birth here jume 12, 2020 during a pandemic. I wanted to write a thank you message more than just a review. I am very happy with the care I received here. I absolutely have the best doctor (Dr. Tienne Randolph) she is amazing. Nurse Erin was the one whom provided me with my hospital tour a few months back and still managed to call me a few times to keep in touch. She has a beautiful soul and speaking with her it's as if you personally know her with the amount of care she has. After having my daughter I stayed with the Fransician family and my daughter see Dr. Savanna Bruski whom I met in the hospital and she is also amazing and welcoming. My ONLY complaint would be every time I received my food orders they were all cold and it takes about an hour after you order to get it to you. So order your food early. I did LOVE the smoothies, so good. There was also a nurse in the delivery room (Jenny I believe) whom asked me if I was married to my daughters father whom was there and if he is the father to my other kids. I don't understand why this question was even relevant while I'm in labor pains. Clearly I am married as we share the same last name and my status is married, why you needed to know if my husband is the father to my other kids was just too personal, why does that matter..

About a year ago, I transferred my primary care services into the Franciscan Health network. While it's not the most convenient health network in Indy for me since I live in Lawrence, I'd long heard good things about Franciscan's customer service and I simply was ready for a change. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago. An ongoing health issue significantly worsened and I found myself deciding to have a friend take me to the St. Francis/Franciscan emergency room which is part of the Franciscan Health complex that includes both the ER, hospital and several outpatient offices. Without going into tremendous detail, I arrived at the Franciscan/St. Francis ER in a considerable amount of distress. I would soon learn that I was in a near medical crisis and, in fact, at risk of a heart attack among other immediate concerns. ER registration was quick and easy. It was a Sunday afternoon and the ER was steady but not particularly busy. The staff was friendly, helpful, and concerned. They took me into one initial area where an initial examination was completed, but then took me to a different room within the ER once that evaluation provided baseline knowledge of what was going on. The first half of my visit to the ER was going rather quickly. I'd been admitted to ER, received an initial evaluation, and been seen by a physician well within one hour. From there, the ER struggled a bit as initial labs did begin to reveal some concerns and an attempt to draw labs and start an IV turned into repeated failures to do so. You could tell the failures were impacting the staff and, as such, it seemed like no one could manage to draw labs. When someone managed to finally get my vein, the previous nurse had failed to tell them they were still needing labs and they had to start over again. They did finally get labs drawn and start an IV, though the end result was a poorly done IV that would end up infiltrating by the following morning. Because I ended up in the ER for several hours, I worked with two physicians. I was more impressed with the first one, though did appreciate the second one's communication regarding the need for admission. I was admitted for what was initially expected to be 24 hours or so, though it ended up being a significantly more complicated admission that would draw out over 10 days and would include significant surgery. I worked with doctors from internal medicine, infectious disease, vascular surgery, and orthopedics. The highlight of my stay was unquestionably the nursing care received while inpatient, which was consistently compassionate, professional, dignified, and remarkably respectful. Both nurses and assistants were uniformly wonderful and they helped me even as I endured what became a traumatic stay resulting in life-changing surgery. While I have spina bifida, I'd not actually had an inpatient stay in a hospital for nearly 30 years and I was amazed at how much has changed. While I certainly preferred some physicians over others, for the most part, this was one of my best healthcare experiences hindered primarily by the initial ER visit and a discharge that was rushed once I was not approved by my insurance for their acute inpatient rehab. The discharge process lacked the compassion and communication that had marked the majority of the stay. While it was far from abysmal, it was a lackluster ending to an otherwise positive inpatient experience. I also found there were times when things would be discussed or documented, but not necessarily brought to me. Thus, I would hear from one person about a possibility but it wasn't something that had been discussed with me. This at times made it seem like I was opposed to something when the truth was no one had simply discussed it with me. Overall, however, my experience with Franciscan/St. Francis is one of my favorite healthcare experiences. The nurses were stellar, the assistants were accepting and compassionate, the chaplains were wonderful, and the majority of the physicians were warm, compassionat

I went to the er this evening due to pain from a mass a dr found the day before. But went due to pain. I got there the dr saw me right away. He said but no surgery. Right away. We weren't sure why he said this. He gave me pain meds that I was allergic to. When showed him he said oh some people just get bumps not allergic reaction. It was an allergic reaction. He said would do ultra sound never explained why considering I had a CT that Showa mass. He comes back tell me he is sending me home with generic meds. Asked what can be done he said oh nothing surgery is probably needed and they don't do that on weekend. He referred me to the obgyn that was on. All but would not call him in to see what can be done. He is not surgeon. He stated protocol not to address my mass. He did testing he admitted he was not doing anything with and he saw my mass already from test day before.

Everyone I encounter was nice and professional. I was very grateful for. My wait was not long. My appointment/procedure was about 30 minutes. A Technician in training and it was perfectly fine. I got my result back same day, which was awesome. Not sure if that's because of my Dr or them or a combo or because of my problems... but hey it was still nice to not wait 3 days, week or 2 like I have with other places etc..

My father was transferred to this hospital from one of their satellite hospitals. Throughout his hospitalization, the communication between the medical professionals and my parents was minimal at best. Multiple requests were made to speak with physicians but none ever came to discuss about the details of his care. He was in the hospital for a total of 5 days and diagnosed with 3 different diagnoses. Oddly enough, minimal was ever most of them. For example, he was diagnosed with cerebral edema (swelling of the brain) but yet, the Neurology service was never referred to and he has no follow up care received upon discharge. I could continue for paragraphs and paragraphs but suffice it to say that his care was poor, communication was nonexistent and their hospital won't be used again for this family.

Labor and delivery. The nurses are pretty cool. Juli was our main nurse, she is really awesome :) During shift change everything was handled well. We went through three shift changes and the nurses were staggered enough that if someone asked a repeat question the other one would pipe in to answer it for us. :) Over all day one has been great. Thanks Saint Francis team!

In the passed year, I have been both a patient and the designated driver for a loved one undergoing a procedure at St Francis/Franciscan Health Indianapolis Hospital. In both cases, admissions made the process easy and the staff were friendly and helpful. In my case, I had to transfer from a smaller satellite hospital that was unable to handle my needs. This location got me in immediately and although I needed to stay overnight, was in fine shape to take off the next day. When I compare the procedure I received to those of friends who had it done 15 years ago, mine was minimally invasive and required a minimum of pain relief in the following days. In the case of my loved one, she had undergone the procedure at another facility and was dreading having it again because it is quite painful and requires the patient to be awake. But this time, the process was greatly improved with far less discomfort. Good quality surgeons and specialists to handle the procedures go a long way in the healing process. I also found the waiting areas of the hospital to be clean and open, not cramped and uncomfortable. There are even places where you can walk inside to stretch your limbs if the procedures run a few hours. That was a relief to me! I have had great results when dealing with this location. I recently experienced a near death infection and spent three days in Franciscan. Over a weekend. The staff and doctors were spot on and were a true blessing to me. They made my stay less scary and of course saved my life. I have been with this network for several years now and have had no negative history with them. My current PCP. Dr Danielle VanGemmert is the bomb. The hospitalist Dr Dailey, the Otolaryngologist Dr Fama were aggressive as need be but cautious and caring. I hope to never have to be there again but if so Franciscan Hospital is where I'll want to be
