I've been coming to Ellenberger for years. Most of the park now is under construction due to digging for cleaner water, I guess. The park advertises that there are Orioles in the park, which I have seen, I don't know if there are anymore. It's still a nice, small park where I go when I need a walk. Lots of people come here off and on for various reasons, when the eclipse happened this year, it was packed and of course, I ventured there. For a smaller park, there are a lot of different attractions that are pretty nice and great.
For example, the pool, which I have used to train for the Olympics several times. Keep in mind for you swimming aficionados, it is a 25m pool with one lane. They've got tennis and pickleball courts and even hold tournaments there, a very nice garden as well, along with an ok sized play grounds for kids. Personally, I'm great friends with the manager, Felisha, who's a wonderful woman, wife, mother, and of course, like I said, friend. She has shown me many times that the park incorporates new, lovely plants, as well as during the halloween season, they have a very in depth and well executed haunted house! They do have an indoor rink and tons of indoor events from soccer, to wrestling, and even in line skating! The park itself is also a great place to have a run, if you're not a slave to hitting your distances in a good time, like I am, or to once again, have a decent walk.
When not under construction, the trail next to the park is a great system to use as well. Next to the main park building, there is art work from local artists. It's fun and engaging. It isn't fine art, but it's not bad to appreciate the effort. Keep in mind, as a professional artist, my standards are incredible high as far as the dilettante/ lay person/ hobbyist is concerned. There's also a market that occurs here, where vendors come and sell their goods. All in all, next time you want to create some me time, consider coming here for about at least 30 minutes to 1 hour, get engaged, and enjoy yourself!
Playground: It's not the size of Carmel elementary's play ground, but it's got swings and rings, and that sort of thing. I don't have kids, but it's not bad.
Toilets: There are restrooms inside the building. Due to lack of staff, they're not always the cleanest, or best maintained, but they're not disgraceful.
Dog-friendliness: Very friendly to dogs, has invested in waste disposal systems, like any great park should. Tbh, those cost like $250 a piece at least.
Picnic area: There's tons of different picnic tables, lots of people come here and have barbecues and parties and that. There's a couple tables by the volley ball court outdoors as well.

I've grown up at Ellenberger, and even though it's under construction at the moment. I'm looking forward to seeing the positive changes once the crew's are finished. This was my Dukester's first time at the park. By the time we got home he slept the rest of the day.
Playground: Safe and well maintained.
Toilets: Located inside.
Dog-friendliness: People love walking around the park with their dog's.
Picnic area: Very well maintained and freshly painted. Plenty of trash cans around the picnic areas.

Went there for the Farmer's Market. Although too early for much produce, there was a wide variety of vendors with quality merchandise.
