Recently my car would not start. I thought the alternator was dead or it had some other real problem. In fact the contact clamp was loose because I replaced the battery myself with a clumsy wrench in a rush in a parking lot.I took it to Al Cooprider and he investigated the problem from the beginning and checked EVERYTHING IN ANY WAY connected to battery performance and then explained it to me in detail. He charged only $35 to determine there was no real problem and put everything in order.I cannot say enough that this shop seems to run simply, on time, and fairly. I didn't have major work done, and you should know it's just one guy and you need to call and ask about hours of operation, but honestly the rating on this place seems like it should be 5. I have no idea what the one review is about.--first time customer.Try this place. It's likely to be cheaper and more convenient and helpful that your other option.

They misdiagnosed my overheating issue and charged me $230 to replace a $20 part which they said on the invoice was $100! Talk about price gouging... Now I'm stuck with the same issue and out $230.

I took my truck in for a fuel line issue. They not only fixed the problem they went way above and beyond. The service here is amazing. Fair pricing, honest, and prompt service. If you work downtown this is where you should take any car problems to.

Al was able to fix a unique problem my car was having for a good price! Dropped it off before work in the morning and it was done by early afternoon.

So happy to find a good mechanic near downtown Indy/old northside. Al came highly recommended by folks I know and trust. They were certainly spot on. Al serviced my car and checked it over for road-worthiness prior to my traveling. He even did a quick, but thorough assessment of a vehicle for me while helping a friend look for a car. I will enjoy working with Al in the future and sending business his way.

Al does excellent work at a fair price in a reasonable "as quoted" period of time. And he is completely honest. First time I went in I told him what was wrong with the car and how much I was willing to spend on the repair - no more than $1200. I picked up the car the same day. Al charged me $30 for the repair and didn't even smirk! Would and do recommend Cooprider to everyone.

Quick, fair pricing, and across the parking lot from work. If you're downtown probably best place you can drop your car.

Battery died nearby so I got a jump and toddled on over to this place to ask for advice. He had no batteries for me on hand so knew he wasn't going to sell me anything but still took the time to check out my battery, clean it well, and print out the battery test strip indicating I should get a new one, all while not acting like I was a moron for not knowing anything about cars, which is always appreciated. I was just visiting the city and I was glad I ended up stumbling across a solid person's business when I needed it!

Al Cooprider is the honest mechanic you've been looking for. He will never try to sell you services you don't need. If you've been burned by chain mechanics, and are nervous about taking your car in, call Al.
