Came to budget/avis to get a rental car and they told me to wait an extra day for the car because they couldn’t change the days I needed it for. I needed the rental car for work. Horrible system and service. Never will come here again

I rented a car with them for one year through Uber. The customer service is horrible they don’t care about anything. They have never answered the phone once. Customer service line is no help either.1. In January they charged me twice in one week, nobody could help me get my money back, I disputed the charges, and that didn’t work so I paid 624.00 for one week.2. In August they charged my card, then called and told me that I didn’t pay, I informed them that they had just taken it out that day, but the money was pending and still had to pay them another 312.00 to keep the car, so after a year of headaches I turned in the car. If this was the company fault why would have have to pay 624.00 in one day because of a mistake that they made.3. My rental was broken into on July 5th they broke out the back window, I took my police report, and the car in. I ask them to keep me updated on the price because I didn’t get there insurance. They are just now sending me a letter on November 1 that I got in the mail on November 7. They changed my card 429.00 on November 14th. This is evil because they didn’t even give me enough time to get the money together to pay. I understand that I have to pay but why would they wait four months to send me a bill that I have to pay a week later.This business is terrible I would never rent from there again!!!

I wish i could give them less than 1 star , i reserved a car and i checked in before i went there they told me yes ,they have my car available for rent. But when i went there there is a disrespectful ladyv in the corner told me there is no car for me . I will never back there

Pre-paid in full in July for a premium large SUV. Arrived at Avis Counter in Indianapolis and told no cars available, so they tried to down size / grade car type. I explained we had a lot of luggage hence why we booked a large car. After a lot of complaining, eventually had no option but to take a small mini van which was a lower grade than what we booked. Avis would not reimburse us the price difference and now just found that Avis have also overcharged us by 3 times the amount for insurance. Can't seem to get any help online or phone to rectify and still trying.The most annoying thing was how unhelpful the airport staff were and didn't really care. Basically said "we haven't got any cars" and then continued to upsell us on insurance which we now find we didn't need because our travel insurance covers it. We have definitely been totally scammed and to add to it, just arrived in Charlotte for the next part of our trip and exactly the same thing has happened with Avis. Why bother pre-booking and paying for cars months out, and then being told no availability when you get to the counter. I have heard many horror stories about this sort of thing in the US so we thought it was safe to go with a known company like Avis, obviously not. Will continue to fight these over charges. Bad form Avis!

Avis automated email asked me to share my review to google so here it is:My visit with Avis was pretty awful. I waited over an hour in line for the checkout counter. speaking with the agents they mentioned the lot staff wouldn't answer the radios, they were having a shortage of cars coupled with technical issues. They couldn't verify what cars were on the lot and that was the reason for the delay. They handed me a business card and asked me to please call to complain to the manager so they could hopefully get these issues fixed as this was a normal occurrence here. AVIS has a reservation system, they knew there was a high demand, and still decided to understaff their desks during this time.The first car I was given wasn't on the lot so I had to attempt to track down staff on the lot to help. The second car I was given had obvious damage to a tire that was unsafe (Have video and pictures) The 3rd car I was given had large cracks in the windshield (Have video and pictures). I decided to take this car as I don't think there were any other options and couldn't delay any more. While driving to my destination I received 3 phone calls from AVIS. Pulling over so I could call back; upon making contact and identifying who I was the first words I hear are "I am about to charge your credit card $500, you took keys that don't belong to you so I am going to charge you credit card $500". I believe I was speaking with the manager and upon further investigation found that during all the confusion and car switches I had accidentally pocketed a set of keys for one of the other cars. I drove back and returned the keys after telling the manager I did not appreciate picking up a phone call to threats instead of calmly explaining the situation.I came to Indy and rented with AVIS for a funeral for a dear loved one. I spent more time in line than I actually drove the car that weekend. This was a tough time made much worse by your company. Hearing my experience several family members cancelled reservations, so hopefully you'll have more cars now.

Do not trust this location with your transactions. I've had an Uber rental through here for the past several months, and transactions have not been smooth. They've asserted that my card was declined even though the transaction was processed, and they've hit my card with $1500 in charges and holds in 2 days and refused to back any of them off, even though they agree some are unwarranted. They also stuck a fuel charge onto the invoice, even though I wasn't returning the vehicle, and it was impossible to incur that charge. If you're dealing with this location, I recommend using a card with a limit that won't allow them to overcharge you, and check every line of their transaction.The worst part is that when confronted with proof of incorrect charges and false accusations of declined cards, they are completely unapologetic, and express no concern. The customer service here is really awful.

Pro: The car I originally rented was unavailable so they upgraded me a big vehicle.Cons: Vehicle was dirty inside and out.I turnt the vehicle in a day early at 4pm Thursday when it was supposed to be originally turnt in Friday by 10am and received no discount for it.So keep the cars thru your full agreement guys!

I have rented two vehicles in the past two weeks. First vehicle I had to exchange for another because the check engine light came on. The second vehicle had a blow out. On return for both vehicles I filled the fuel to full and I was still charged $65.01 for fuel. Ridiculous that’s $105.01 out of my account to fill up one vehicle. They are helpful, professional or organized.

I booked a rental to pick up This morning at 11. I get a text at 8:30 am saying they didn’t have any. I changed locations to the West Washington street location. I called in and confirmed for a 2pm pickup. I just received a text saying they don’t have any vehicles although I already confirmed. Avis is bad business!! Stay away!!

Could not have had a better experience with this location, and Nathan in particular. Had 3 long-term rentals and all was handled flawlessly and Nathan was extremely helpful. I was thrilled with the service here.

Great service and value. Kevin does a great job setting me up in a rental on short notice. We use Avis 5 to 7 times a year for vacations or quick visitation rides. Will continue to use Avis and recommend to others.

The worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. It’s impossible to get in touch with anyone who can help you if you call. There is no corporate number just customer service that’ll transfer you until the sun comes up! If I could give this place - 8 stars I would. I’ve had better customer service at McDonald’s. PLEASE look this place up on BBB before you rent! I wish I had. I was just trying to use the car for Uber and if I could go back in time I would never do business with them. There’s nothing but pages of people being scammed by this business on BBB, and now I’ve been added to the list. You can have all the proof in the world they are wrong and it won’t matter to anyone at the company. I would go further into detail but I don’t plan on rolling over and taking it and letting them get away with this. Chasity is rude and should make sure she knows the difference between collections and corporate before she speaks to customers. She just answers questions with the first thing that comes to mind but should actually do research before informing customers incorrectly. Kevin should make sure he’s aware he’s processing a refund instead of taking a payment before he allows you to drive off the lot with a new rental. Did I mention the engine gave out on the first rental, while I was driving, 3 days after I had it? Oh and the second rental had an insurance card in the car that had expired 2 years prior? I could go on, but you’d be here all week!
