I love the groceries at meijer. It is my home away from home and I love shopping at all of the Meijer stores in Lake and Cook County. However, tonight on August 4th, 2024 at about 11:15 p.m., I was in the self checkout at the Highland Indiana store and a sale price did not come up which I realized after I had already paid unfortunately. So, I started to talk to the foreign lady about it who was working in the self-scan area. She speaks with an accent. Well, she does NOT understand personal space or pick up on social cues. I was trying to discuss the receipt and she was standing right on top of me, literally 2 or 3 inches away. I would back up to get away from her to try to have a conversation at more of a distance and she would come right up close to me again. So I backed away again to stand at more of a distance and she came right back up super close to me again. She did this four times and I realized either she is doing this on purpose because she notices it's making me uncomfortable or she literally does not understand social cues at all and she certainly does not respect personal space. It was really frustrating and aggravating. Apparently she thinks everybody wants to stand super close to her, so close that you're almost touching skin. It's simply not the case. That was probably the most annoying encounter I've had in the last 4 years. Really hoping she learns the importance of respecting personal space and understanding that she does not have to stand right on top of everybody, shoulder to shoulder, in order to have a conversation. Hoping also someday she learns to pick up on social cues if she really doesn't get it.

The deli employees (two older Caucasian ladies) are absolutely horrible, they move slow and have the worst attitudes.

I shop here all the time this is my favorite store ! Super peaceful and clean . Today I had a bad experience. I was checking out and the cashier Anisa wasn’t at her register at first took her a minute to be found . Once she seen how many items I had in my cart her attitude changed !!! She was very rude !!

Check out is an adventure now. Basically forced to use self check. Waited over 5 minutes for help with a purchase requiring age verification. Customer service folks standing around talking while I wait again.

0 stars! Today my brother ordered groceries around 1:30 for us to pick up. Pickup time was 7-8 and we got there at 7:15 called in and gave our parking spot number for them to bring our order out. About 10 minutes later a lady came out and brought somebody else’s order and came to our vehicle and stated “your order won’t be ready for another hour unless we run into any hiccups, but I know you probably have other things going on tonight and we cannot come out of this door after 9 so if we need to we can hold your order till tomorrow” she quickly turned around and walked off. We left and came back at 8:10 we called in and they said they were going to be preparing our order and be out shortly I went in at 8:50 and spoke with a “manager” the same lady that told us the first time our order wouldn’t be ready for a hour. She had a huge attitude slamming her hands on the counter and she said she’s already been here 3 hrs after she should have been so she might as well stay longer and get my order out. We didn’t receive our order till 9:30 I just don’t understand if the order was made at 1:30 why wasn’t it ready and what was the reason for an attitude? If anything I should have been upset but I guess people just don’t like their jobs that much. In other words if you don’t like your job quit, all I was doing was trying to pick up my groceries for my house hold who still hasn’t ate dinner yet today. DONT ORDER GROCERIES HERE!

I had a terrible experience today at the Highland Meijers. For some unknown reason the cashier took an instant disliking to me. She was pleasant to the customers ahead of me but turned into a different person when checking me out. She was aggressive, rude, and hostile for no reason. When I asked a question about the credit card machine she slammed her fist on the counter (as if she wanted to hit me), answered me curtly and glared at me with hatred in her eyes. It was very bizarre behavior. This particular person is clearly struggling with anger issues. It was unnerving and I definitely felt threatened. I fear that she’s capable of violence. I left the store upset and afraid, I won’t return to this location ever again for fear of running into her.

Used to work at this location as a teenager when the store first opened, 20 sum years ago. Though pricey at times, whenever I'm in the area, I still shop here. Especially for the sales.

The Highland Meijer Store is very disappointing. The produce department is filthy dirty just like the Meijer the Merrillville Indiana store. The store is understaffed and not stocked well. It took me an hour too shop. I'm going too get in touch with the corporate office in Michigan. There is no excuse for not cleaning your store.
