READ THIS IF YOUR FAMILY HAS (or HAD) CDs or IRAs AT THIS LOCATION as what happened to my brothers and I should NOT happen to anyone else. It seems this Branch located an additional $60,000 of my father's money 5 YEARS after his passing. In May 2017, we received the proceeds of several CDs and an IRA from my father's estate. My brother was the Executor and obtain what we thought was all our father's money at this bank. Then, in October 2022, my brother was contacted again by this Branch as they were trying to locate one of us before they sent our money to the State of Indiana as "unclaimed property".Luckily, my brother had a business account with this Branch as that was how we were finally contacted to obtain the rest of our money. While completing the necessary paperwork from the bank representative relative to the outstanding CD, my brother asked if there was any other monies of my father's at this bank. The representative mentioned my name and my brother got me on the phone immediately. It seems a portion of an IRA associated with my name was also sitting there unclaimed all this time! No one could adequately explain how this portion of our inheritance was delayed for over 5 years. It was suggested it could have been a software upgrade error or the fact that my father didn't properly update the addresses of his sons prior to his passing. (We found this last comment unacceptable as we had to provide our driver's licenses and sign paperwork back in 2017 to obtain the initial inheritance. Our correct addresses were on the licenses. The Manager stated that she wasn't sure of the protocol back then and possibly the bank had to follow the documentation in the original paperwork rather than the updated information provided in 2017.)Given it was over five years ago since the initial distribution, the Manager apologized for this mishap and said they tried to go back and find out how this happened, but due to the length of time, it was impossible to determine how this happened. As such, if any of your family members have done business with this bank in the past 5 or so years and you received an inheritance during this time, I highly recommend contacting the office to check to see if any outstanding monies belonging to you are still out there. It's hard to believe that this mishap only happened to us. It would also be a good idea to check the State of Indiana registry for "unclaimed property" to see if any outstanding monies are owed to you.
