Rating -5. I have been going to H&R Block offices for 20+ years and never had any issues until I went to this office. I experienced a variety of issues with this H&R Block office. Firstly, this H&R Block left out the Affordable Care Act / Marketplace Form 1095A from my 2019 tax filing. As a result, the IRS rejected my federal tax filing and demanded an amended form. I contacted the H&R Block office at 7600 IN-64 Ste E., Georgetown, Indiana to notify them of the omission of Form 1095A. This office subsequently sent the IRS Form 1095A and an amended tax filing. However, the IRS sent at least three subsequent notices to me alerting me of computation errors with Form 1095A and the amended return and refund amount. In one of the IRS notices, the IRS stated that my tax refund should be HIGHER than that calculated by H&R Block.
There were multiple computation errors and the omission of the Form 1095A by this H&R Block office. When I notified this H&R Block office of these errors, they should have immediately refunded my tax preparation fee of $479.00 paid on 04/14/20. Instead, this business remained silent and did NOT issue this refund under their Maximum Refund Guarantee / Peace of Mind Guarantee. To add further stress to the situation, I had to constantly follow up with this office to ensure they were following up with the IRS notices. I continually requested mailed copies of the amendments they were sending to the IRS, but never received copies even though Ginger kept saying… “I mailed you a copy…” Since I did not receive a copy of amendments made by H&R Block, I wondered if this H&R Block office was amending the tax documentation as they stated.
Whenever I would express concern over the delay in getting my tax refund, Ginger would state…” The IRS has not issued refunds to several other customers that filed their taxes over a year ago with Form 1095A.” This should have been a red flag, but I did not know the particulars with the other customers’ tax filings. In hindsight, I know that this H&R Block was responsible for the delays with my refund and NOT the IRS.
It has taken over 3 years to get my federal tax refund for 2019. I ended up omitting the H&R Block office from my last couple of communications to the IRS because they could not resolve the issues and I do not think they were filing anything with the IRS because my tax filing became stalemated after I stopped working on it over a year ago. This H&R Block created significant hardship for me in 2020 because I had shut to down my business and could not pay for housing. I was relying on my federal tax refund to provide financial relief, but instead I had to abruptly vacate an apartment and move in with family.
Additionally, this office wanted to charge me $600+ for my tax filing, which they took over a month to complete. This filing was for a business, but it was not complicated-I took a significant loss in 2019, and I performed all the computations for expenses. Wanda even commented, this will be an “easy” filing because you did all the calculations. Their original fee that they wanted to charge for an “easy” filing was EXCESSSIVE! When I was quoted the $600 figure AFTER COMPLETION of my taxes, I negotiated the price down a bit stressing that I was having grave financial difficulties. They still charged almost $500!
I have filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau and am requesting a full refund for my tax preparation in accordance with the Maximum Refund Guarantee and the Peace of Mind Guarantee/Plan that I paid extra for. These “guarantees” are to protect consumers from the faulty workmanship/lack of attention to details/lack of competency/mistakes. I should have received a refund 3 years ago when I first called the blatant tax errors to this H&R Block’s attention. But again, they remained silent. Shame on this HR Block office for not acting with integrity and not doing the right thing by issuing a refund to me 3 years ag

First and last year I will be using H&R Block. Wanda was my tax “pro” if that’s what you call it. I came in and told them I was missing a W2. After weeks of no communication or contact I finally reached out multiple times, and in the end I had to get the W2 myself. Even after sending everything needed and had all my W2 forms days went by and still nothing has been filed. I’ve heard everything from being in the hospital to being sick. Although I empathy for the situation, a corporation of this size should have other tax pros that step in to help finish my taxes. It’s nothing complicated literally a few W2 forms and I’m claiming my kid. Worst experience I’ve had in 10 years, AND ITS NOT EVEN TAX SEASON.

Terrible communication, haven't recieved my tax return months later. Was told they charge the same amount every year, then got overcharged asked about it and they said they would send me a reimbursement and never did.
