Ooh wee! What can I say about Greyhound that hasn't already been said? I had the unfortunate pleasure of having to take the Greyhound from Gary to Indianapolis on August 26th. Thankfully it was only a one way trip only as I had a ride back with D who drove down there a few days earlier for a convention. I chose to take the 8:05 AM bus. So the bus arrived a few minutes early (shocker!) though it was not labeled as a Greyhound bus and the lone announcer didn't mention its arrival. I only knew it arrived because another passenger came up to the counter where the lone announcer resided and said that the driver wouldn't accept her E-ticket and told her she had to buy another ticket. She desperately wanted her son to be able to board so she bought the ticket. I myself didn't pay the extra $5 for Will Call thinking that I could just show my E-ticket. Nope... I had to "pay" the driver $20 more so I could board the bus since I didn't print it (but I guess I should be glad I didn't have to pay $50 to get another ticket). Then the driver had the audacity to pull over suddenly on I-65 past Merrillville to chastise a passenger telling them that he didn't want to hear their phone conversation. Also he didn't bother to help elderly passengers get their luggage from under the bus. A real class act this jerk. The bad thing is complaining won't make a difference since the fact that the employee is breathing is enough for them to have a job since the labor market is tight. I'm grateful that at least the bus was on time and didn't get cancelled like I've read about in other reviews on different sites. Definitely avoid Greyhound if you can. But if you have no choice (there's no good alternative to get from Gary to Indianapolis... save wasting two hours to get to downtown Chicago for an Amtrak just to go back down to Indianapolis), then pray the bus arrives on time and if you're at the Gary location, do the Will Call for $5 if you don't have access to a printer at home. Hope I don't have to do this B.S. again.

The only thing that's not great about this terminal is that it's old and needs renovations. However the economic state of the city makes it very unlikely that such a thing will happen.
