Love to support small businesses such as Connolly's Do it Best Hardware & Rental (Illinois Road). They are always very friendly and helpful! I purchased many gallons of paint this Fall and were very pleased. The price was right and customer service was excellent! These are before and after pics of our home.

We have been going to Connolly's for years and I just realized I never have written a review! This morning we were in need of a few items to finish up theRV clean up. Propane, WD 40, some glue and some silicone sealant! My sister in law was in need of a phone charger for her car! Got all these purchased and were in and out in 15 minutes! The staff were helpful and friendly! You can't beat this little hardware store!

If you’re old enough & remember Tim Conway’s character of the old slow moving man, he’s now working @ this store @ the register. I waited in line 15 min. 3rd in line, to check out 1 item! The other two had some flowers & the lady ahead of me had 4 items. Finally, they opened another register or it would have been another 5 minutes. He looked like he was so confused. Very frustrated & disappointed that they place an employer as a cashier, when clearly this was too much for him to handle

What is not to like about this store? They are all very clean, well stocked. And they have knowledgeable people willing to help you. When you are starting a project or on a last minute fix these folks are the beginning and end.

Fantastic quality Spring flowers. Even some of the annuals have come back in protected spots on my landscaping. The perennials are great.

I had a new lawnmower I just got and the power cord had got cut I called all the way around and then I called them and then took my lawn mower in they fixed it for under $10 I can't remember the Young Guy's name but he was awesome he had it done the same day that's it maybe 2 hours I was so happy every other place could not do it or have some kind of excuse cuz as a electric mower but he did a great job and I appreciate it definitely think that young man needs a raise

Honestly irritated that they no longer do rentals. Now I have to drive all the way to SouthGate to rent and the deposits are insane in comparison. Was a great location but if their gonna cut out rentals i have no reason to visit.

Went to the store at 4:55PM to buy a pressure washer. I watched the young punk kid walk up to the door to lock it as I was coming in. If you’re not going to stay open until your advertised time I won’t do business here. I knew exactly what I wanted to buy and where it was located, oh not to mention they aren’t cheap. Lost a sale, and a customer!

I am a frequent shopper at the Illinois Rd location. I purchase my light bulbs, propane and general hardware there due to convenience of location. The last few times I have been helped by an older gentleman. I'm not sure of his name but he walks with a limp. He is absolutely the nicest, is most respectful and is most knowledgable. The teenagers at the door just tell me what isle things are in, this gentleman leads me right to the item I need and helps with information about it. If the item isn't available, he suggests a work around that gets the job done. He always thanks me for 'Coming In' too. You need to hire more like him. He reminds me of the hardware store employees from the 60's, back when they actually cared.

Do know how you could complain - big box stores do have people that help unless you ask. Yes supply chain causes some issues but that is happening most everywhere.

Both of my last two experiences there have been poor.First one was when I was trying to purchase a Big Green Egg - which they are an Authorized Gold Dealer for. When I went in - the staff knew absolutely nothing about them. How can you be an authorized gold dealer - and have nobody who can actually SELL them? I took my business to the BBQ Store & More in New Haven instead (they are GREAT).Second was this past weekend. I called them Saturday to see if they could put a new pane into my storm window (shattered window). They said yes - and that they could have it ready the same day. So I dropped it off before noon. The young guys behind the counter did not seem to know what they were doing - so they just took my name and number and told me they would call me later that day when it was ready.They never called - so about 30 minutes prior to their closing, I called and someone different told me "I don't know who you talked to - but our screen guy isn't even in today. But I'll put a note that this has to get done on Monday".So I call today... and now they tell me there is no way they could get it done today and they are at least a week out. And the guy has the nerve to tell me "Was it a bunch of young guys who you talked to?" - like that was an excuse for the horrible communication and customer service I received... I spoke with the manager, and all she was able to do was prioritize it for Tuesday instead - which was not helpful because we are leaving for vacation and won't be here.My recommendation - if you just need some tools/parts - its fine. If you actually need them to do something for you - or to be knowledgeable about their products - go someplace else.
