My husband and I lived at Bonterra 2020-2021. The place looked nice from the photos and tour, but as we moved in, we started noticing things we didn’t like:
- we chose the 1 bedroom + den design and the layout caused there to be NO sun. It felt like living in a cave. I couldn’t wait to get out.
- there is no air circulation in there. Anytime you cooked, it smelled for a long time. There was a lingering scent when we first moved in.
- the washer and dryer were nice to have, but they were in a closet. Which is not uncommon, but that + no air circulation meant we had to open our windows in the dead of winter to allow the steam from the dryer to escape. If we didn’t, the entire closet would be sopping wet and the paint started peeling off the walls.
-there was no elevator (not sure if that’s changed in the last 4 years) and the stairs are LONG. I had to drag my pregnant butt up those stairs every day and it became very difficult toward the end.
-they must have kept painting over things because we noticed that paint in some areas was still tacky and never cured (also probably because of the poor circulation)
We didn’t have too many issues with the noise at first, but I realized I could hear my neighbor hacking a loogie every morning in his bathroom, which shared a wall with our bathroom.
** The main reason I took off another star or two is because of how they completely screwed us at the end. We are really clean people and they just nickled and dimed us when we moved out. They claimed that we BLEACHED the carpet in one area, which is insane, and charged us for it. There were other nit picky things that I don’t remember and we just paid for. I was going to argue that one, but my husband just went ahead and paid it because we were expecting a baby any day and didn’t have time for the drama. They also did not give us our security deposit back. ANY excuse to keep it. Like I said, we are very clean people
** If you live in building 12 in apt 302, DO NOT let them charge you for a bleached carpet. Hopefully they actually repaired it like they said they would, but I could see them using it against a future resident.
IMPORTANT: be extremely thorough when filling out the move-in sheet. They can and will use it against you to justify any issues they think they find when you move out.
A few positives:
- nice looking outside and minimalist interior
- I felt very safe there. Locks on each building and door.
- keyless entry to building and your apartment
- pool and exercise room are nice (although we didn’t get to use it because it was in the middle of the pandemic).
- our layout had nice space and the balcony was nice
- the couple ladies at the front desk that I met were really nice and very prompt when handling the situation when one of our neighbors was smoking a certain herb and it was seeping into our apartment.
Overall, I don’t regret living there. I felt safe and it was a decent place. All that said, I probably wouldn’t choose to live there again if I was looking for an apartment. It’s very expensive for what you get. & I certainly would not choose that particular layout again.

We never had any regret moving here in Bonterra from our previous apartment. We needed more space for our newborn baby and we got everything that we need! From the spacious rooms, relaxing ambience and great amenities. We moved in 30th of July and had the baby on 31st, baby really waited for us to be here before coming coming out ? Thanks to our leasing agent Cassie for all the help! We sure do love our new home❤️

Cassie provided a wonderful tour of the property. While I didn't end up signing a lease, Bonterra was a top pick.

I moved into the apartment complex not too long ago and I do not have any complaints. The staff is very nice. The amenities are nice too. The walls in the apartments are not paper thin which is awesome! :). The last place I rented had paper thin walls. I could hear my neighbors all of the time, which is not the biggest deal for me, but I know for others it is. However, I have greatly enjoyed the peace I feel inside of my apartment. The sunlight that comes into my apartment is great too! Definitely makes the rooms with windows very bright and welcoming. The area is awesome as well! Although I love living near to the heart of Fort Wayne, I am glad to be on the outskirts. Bonterra provides a space of peace and privacy for the residents. I am so happy I chose to rent here! :). The salt water pool is cool too. As someone with allergies, I appreciate not having to worry about tons of chlorine. I look forward to my next several months at Bonterra!! :)

I love living at Bonterra Apartments! Great community and key location of North Fort Wayne, Indiana. I had the pleasure of touring with Cassie. She was very professional and courteous. The maintenance team have been great as well fast and polite. One of few Apartments in town with garages which is ideal for me. I would recommend this place.

I have only lived here a week but so far it’s been great. Cassie at the leasing office is so sweet and like a friend. I felt welcomed by her instantly on my first visit. I ended up finding the perfect apartment for me and my two cats. I work from home as well so the space and natural light and the view are just wonderful. I’m very picky on the noise I hear from neighbors so I am on the top floor so that helps. So far I have only heard some noise from a neighbor who was moving in which is understandable. Overall I definitely would recommend Bonterra! The price for my apartment is also extremely competitive compared to other similar complexes.

Unfortunately there was not availability for the time frame my husband and I needed for move in dates. But we spoke with Cassie in leasing and she was SO helpful and kind!! She was very knowledgeable on Bonterra and Fort Wayne. We live out of state due to the military and she gave us recommendations of other good apartments in the area we could call. So helpful since we aren't able to visit. Overall a wonderful experience and greatly appreciated!

Just moved in and the area is very clean quiet and peaceful just like I like it! Staff is very friendly and resourceful as well. Pool looked nice and the gym was very nice and clean as well !
Our leading agent was a great help in renting our place when we couldn’t choose between 2 letting me see them as many times as I needed. Cassandra was a great help overall as well, she answered all of my questions and worked with me to schedule bookings even with my crazy schedule. She even came in clutch when my movers fell through!
Thanks Cassie !

For starters the cons: they do not have light fixtures in all the rooms. The bed room has no lights and the living room has 1/2 lights. You'll have to buy your own. The only wired provider for Internet is Comcast. You can get satalight if you want such as t mobile. Parking can be a bit crowded.
Pro: an okay price for the size of the room. The rooms are pretty clean when I got there. The people that work there are very nice and respond fast. So far not to bad a place

Overall, decent apartments, clean landscape, nice interiors and modern. Front desk are friendly. They were accommodating and helpful during the move in & out.
Would not recommend moving here for the reason that the walls are so thin and poorly insulated that you can hear everything from your neighbors - Constant, infiltrating and insufferable noises day & late into the night. Reached out to management a few times to voice concerns and didn't see much change so doubt they did anything. Guests that used to visit voiced a similar message. Made living here frustrating.
Ultimately, the constant and penetrating noises was the reason why didn't renew lease. Avoid!

I'm impressed. Solid quality throughout the apartments. The management though is THE BEST I have ever interacted with. They have been so helpful and visibly happy to help.

I moved to this city &, as per my family’s recommendation, opted for this apartment complex. I wish I could have given it 5 stars, but I thought about mentioning a few potential concerns I dealt with & observed.
Let’s start by saying this is a nice, clean, & accessible neighborhood overall. Few women at the front desk were kind/ helpful.
1. Management is not the nicest here, and could definitely benefit from having a little bit more courtesy towards tenants. I personally would feel intimidated by threatening emails & it would make me upset (I agree we all make mistakes but as an educated society, things/ suggestions can be said in a nicer tone than bullying).
2. The walls are very thin & it’s not possible to have friends over/ movie nights or even music - I would even vacuum with fear as I know I’d bother my neighbors. Not sure if there is an insulation problem.
3. I have lived in many cities in the US & this is the only place I have come across which has this odd way of trash collection. Not speaking for other tenants, but half of the days, I’d walk myself to the big disposal area to dump the trash (as the trash collector system is only a few days a week, not to mention countless holidays/ weather impacts when they wont come).
I moved to a new neighborhood, paying more than what I was paying at Bonterra, yet having peace of mind & content.

I’ve rented for years across multiple states and Bonterra is definitely the best complex I’ve lived in yet. Priced fairly compared to other older, more run down complexes in the area. The first apartment I’ve moved into that I didn’t need to deep clean myself - it was spotless already!
The complex itself is super clean and I personally love that they make you submit a sample of your dog’s DNA so they can keep track of who doesn’t clean up and fine them. Great gym, awesome pool.
Finally, the office always seemed to have it together, which is rare for an apartment complex. Alex is amazing!
