Chateau always takes really good care of my animals. They are also one of the more relatively affordable vets in Evansville.

We moved here from Ohio in the fall of 2022 and finding the Chateau Dog & Cat Hospital was wonderful and welcoming for our senior dog. Everyone is always so welcoming to our family and our dog. Highly recommend!

Undeserving of one star, but it would not allow leaving a review. Recently, my friends 92-year-old mother’s dog became very ill and would not eat. It was discovered he had a bad tooth. Before $1200 plus dental treatment could be performed he had to be put on antibiotics. They perform multiple lab tests, prescribe ATBs and pain meds for two weeks. We never received a phone call regarding the lab results. We called multiple times and because Dr Pinkerton was out, no results could be given. It took over a week to receive results of the tests… Of which they finally said nothing was wrong. Dog continued not to eat. She prescribed appetite stimulant and 4 small cans of prescribed food that was $60! After three weeks of trying to help this 12 year old sweet Maltese and over $1000 he still would not eat. He began passing blood and we knew his time was near the end. We called Dr. Pinkerton to made an appt for euthanizing this baby. Two hours before his appointment they called and said they could not perform the procedure simply because he “snapped“ at the owner while trying to give medication. It was explained that he did not touch her or bite her… Dr. Pinkerton said she had to wait 14 days and would not perform the euthanization because “it was illegal”. Meanwhile, the sweet dog continued to suffer. After numerous calls to local vets to ask for assistance to euthanize him(understandably they were all extremely busy and unable to assist, it was 3:00 pm) we ended up driving to Princeton for them to help us help this baby cross the bridge. Mind you, it was such a stressful and emotional event managing the sick baby and then being told the place we've trusted for 12 years would not help… but they assuredly received over $1000 cash!!If you truly love your fur baby you will not take it to Château Dog and Cat!

They are super fantastic! I have two dogs that I bring to them one is a 12. Yr old min-pin and the other is a three yr old lab-Dalmatian mix that I rescued. They treat both my dogs the same, with kindness, love and care. I wouldn’t take my fur babies anywhere else.

Office staff was friendly but not the most knowledgeable. I ended up canceling my appointment for my senior cat because the staff wouldn't give me an estimate of the cost for the appointment. They did, however, keep calling me to push back the appointment, so I just canceled. I don't recommend this vet, tbh.

My dog is old and dying, he’s in pain. They are making him wait a month to get him in for a visit just to make sure he is strong enough to keep taking his pain meds. This may sound cold but he’s on his death bed- we’re playing hospice- so I would think keeping him out of pain would be worth more than making more money by making me bring him in. They won’t refill his meds until I bring him in. So I have to listen to him cry in pain for an entire month because they don’t care about him. He’s not healthy- that’s not going to change. He’s almost 20 years old. He’s not going to be healthy at this point no matter what we do. I genuinely believe this place doesn’t care about anything but how much money they can extract from you. When we got a puppy, he needed to be neutered and we had just moved to Evansville- leaving our tried and true vet behind in Vincennes thinking it would be better to move vet services here. We ended up driving allllll the way to Vincennes for his surgery because Chateau was going to charge us almost $700 for a neuter and microchip. Got the neuter, the microchip, AND back dew claw removal at Southgate vet in Vincennes for $200. That’s gouging at its finest from Chateau. Find another vet- they have much cheaper ones all over that will probably care about your animal much more.

I wish I could rate higher than five stars. Not only have I taken my pets here for several years, but I also used to work at Chateau Dog & Cat Hospital. I can say without a doubt I wouldn’t take my animals anywhere else. Through the years staffing has changed dramatically but the kindness, care, love, and compassion have not. They have saved the lives of so many animals, mine included! The veterinary staff is extremely knowledgeable and I feel very safe leaving my pets there. It’s very easy to get an appointment, even if they are solidly booked they always find a way to get you the help you need. I never have had an issue with rudeness or sub par care when visiting. Our cat Rooty Kazootie is well known at Chateau, as well as our late kitty Booyou. The staff has always been excited to see them. (Even if they weren’t nice! ?) Rooty has severe urinary issues that almost cost him his life several times. If the staff hadn’t acted as quickly and efficiently as they did, we wouldn’t have our sweet boy around anymore. They constantly call with updates about the treatment plan for your hospitalized pet and ask permission before doing other procedures. I cannot express the amount of gratitude I have for the amazing people who work here. From appointments to emergencies, Chateau is probably one of the best places to go in Evansville for pet care. You won’t find a better qualified team to help your pet in their time of need. ?

They fit me in even when they were double booked because my girl was very sick. Thank you to the vet and vet techs for being very caring and compassionate. The only negative feedback i have is i wish they had a good working ultra sound machine and an overnight tech that could stay with the dogs. It would have saved me $2000 and a trip to Louisville. Overall pleased with my experience here though. Thank you for helping Sadie!

Doc Brown doesn't acknowledge my Back to the Future references but I'm going to keep making them. I love this place and the friendly people in it. Would recommend them to anyone that asks.

Vet is awesome. Literally saved my bullys life after swallowing a nerf ball. I also have a muzzle dog and they always take such good care of him even when he shows his butt! Love my vet!
