I'm surprised that Great Clips is considered a low end salon, as I have used them (3 different states) for over 20 years and only had a very few cuts that I was unhappy with. That's not a bad record. That said, there is one person at the Goshen Village salon I will not allow to touch my hair again. For one thing, she doesn't listen. She is argumentative and tells me how horrible my hair is. I don't need that. But here's the point I want to make for ALL stylists (and most know this). Learn the difference between layering and thinning a person's hair. My cut is a modified bob and I like to have it long enough in the back (except at the base) to get a round brush through to get volume. This person has twice now NOT layered my hair at all, but instead, very rapidly goes through my hair (especially the back) with a thinning sheers. I can't get a round brush through it. She didn't leave me any layers. She just thinned the whole back side out. I didn't go back because there is nothing that can be done at this point but she will not touch my hair again. A GOOD cut (and I've had many) is achieved by cutting (carefully with a scissors) some long layers that give me plenty of hair to work with.
