I've been taking my dogs to Smith Animal for the past year. Thankfully we haven't had any emergencies so it's been mainly preventative care and ear infections. The staff has always been great and Dr. Smith is always the Dr. we see. They have appointments that fill up pretty fast but I think they reserve some time for emergencies. How do I know this....because I had to make a really tough decision about my 18 year old cats on a Friday before a holiday weekend. I had originally planned to use from Home to Heaven but was unhappy with the communication. So on Friday morning I called Smith Animal and explained the situation. They said they had an emergency appointment they could fit me into. I arrived early...crying in my car while holding one of my cats. The staff came out to get me. Everyone was so compassionate as I bailed my eyes out in the room. The price was also over less than half the cost of the service I originally planned to use. Fast forward to today, a week later and the office sent me a handwritten condolences card.

I want to thank all the wonderful ladies and Dr. Smith. They have always loved and gone the extra mile to take care of Scooby for over 13 years. From multiple ear infections and hurting his hind legs.. I couldn't ask for such kindness. Thank you for helping us put him to rest and comforting us??

Don’t dare leave a poor review or question anything about your animals treatment here. I did and I was just told my 3 year pup was no longer going to be treated for his severe UTI infection. The antibiotics I was given for him are not working and I’m very upset about it and concerned so I called to tell them. I was flat out told because I left a poor review he would not be seen no more along with my other two dogs and to take my sick pup to a 24 hour urgent care (in the middle of treatment) I always thought Dr Smith to be kind along with Yvonne but this blew me away.I did remove my previous review just because I was very upset and maybe I spoke out of concern for my pet more than anything. But now that I was just told that my three dogs were no longer patients due to a REVIEW I wasn’t wrong at all. Just mean. You don’t treat animals that way. If you have an issue with your clients doctor please try and resolve it DONT take it out on the animals.

Dr Smith is great. His entire staff is very nice, helpful, and professional. I take my two dogs and cat there. Couldn't be happier with the level of care they receive.

The staff and Dr at Smith animal clinic are extremely helpful and friendly. They provide great veterinary care and advice and my dogs are actually excited to get there when we board them. Highly recommend!

Switched vets to this office. I was so impressed by their friendliness and helpfulness. Very competitive and fair prices!! Treated us better than any vet office I've been to. They took the time to address all of my concerns. Thank you for your amazing business, I'm so grateful to have you care for my pet!!!

We have been long time customers of Kirk A. Smith's animal clinic in Crown Point for various pets dating all of the way back to 2004. We have also received good care for our pets and have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Smith, his employees, and facilities as well. We highly recommend Kirk A. Smith for all of your pet, farm animal, and equestrian medical needs as well!

A friend of mine recommended this facility. I have found them to be competent, friendly and very concerned about your pet's needs. The integrity by which this office operates is a great example how other businesses should operate. I cannot say enough good things about them. I know that my dog will always receive excellent care with Dr Smith.

My parents took their dog here YEARS ago and they were fantastic, they were super understanding when we had to put him down and they made the process as easy as it could be given what it was. When I got my first dog I knew that I would take them there even though it's not as close as other vets. My dog is reactive to people and other dogs and they're really nice about it! They made sure her annual check up was complete. I also take her to get her nails done and I probably always will if I can. I know that it's a luxury but they're really good with her AND the price truly isn't that bad!

I use to take my animals here years ago before a vet went up closer to me, they were always pretty good. I called in tears today not knowing what to do or where to go with my sick dog because no one was open expect them at the time. The lady on the phone was extremely rude to me, didn’t have a care about me or my animal, and acted like I was inconveniencing her by calling to see if my dog could get in there. Will NEVER take any of my animals here again.
