My experience at Take 5 oil change on Main Street in Crown Point. I started going to Take 5 about four years ago when I moved to the area. Back then it was run like a tight military style. There was a lot of communication between employees and everyone stepped up to help get vehicle in and out. Unfortunately that has changed. I got an oil change last week and when I got up the next day I saw some oil on my driveway. I took my truck back and they proceeded to tell me I had a rear main seal leaking and it wasn’t anything they did. I spoke to the assistant manager while there and he confirmed it was the rear main seal. Prior to the oil change there was no leak. I put the truck aside until I could find someone to look at it. Well I finally had someone look at the leak and guess what the oil filter was loose. Tightened the oil filter and no more leak. Needless to say I will not be going back to this establishment. They send email surveys and I’ve voiced my concerns. I had a drain plug that wasn’t tightened in the past also.

On a Friday, had oil change, coolant change, air filter installed. $270. They said something broke while they were changing the oil, but they thought it was just a piece of the oil filter. Left, check engine light came on. Went back. They didn't have a code reader, so someone ran to buy one. Turns out they were a gallon short on coolant. They fixed it, left, engine light on again. Came back. They said sometimes that happens. Asked them to read the code anyway. Code said wrong filter. I looked up the one they installed, it said right online it wasn't compatible. So they put in the correct one. Left. Saturday morning, engine light came on again. Oil pressure was low, still saying wrong filter. They said they'd file a claim and to not drive it until I heard from claims on Tuesday. We couldn't go that long without a car. Took it to our mechanic. The piece they broke that they thought was part of the filter was actually the bypass valve and part of the housing assembly. $1000 to fix. Claims called, said it was "broken when we brought it to them". Mechanic said it's too hard to prove they broke it. All I know is my car's oil pressure was fine and there were no engine lights on when we first brought it there, so, needless to say, I will never be bringing any of my cars to probably any oil change place again. Only a mechanic will be touching my cars from now on.

I have all of my vehicles done here. They do a great job. HOWEVER, they don't lubricate the suspension. I will have to find another place to take my cars.

Horrible unprofessional techs no water offered lack of communication. In the past when I've visited the Crown Point location I felt welcomed this time around the opposite Although I've been going there for 2 years I won't be visiting that location ever again.
