“The Burns family were wonderful at making such a hard experience so much easier on our family. Their attention to detail and personal needs was much appreciated. Jim Burns and staff are serving their community in a job they are called to do and do it with such class and grace. They were celebrating our family member with us and were like a part of our family. ♥️Thanks for everything!!!The Hanberry Family”

“Very good service. My mom's paternal side of the family were all serviced by Smith, Bizzell & Warner. Nearly a couple months ago, my late stepfather's services were conducted by Smith, Bizzell & Warner and my mom and I were very pleased we chose them. All the staff we interacted with, especially Dana and Lameca, were all very professional, courteous and genuine when handling all the desired arrangements for my stepfather, For that, we will always be thankful for them, proving once again why they are such a staple in the Gary/NWI community when dealing with our loved ones when they leave us.”

“I was very pleased with the help Burns Funeral Home provided me with pre-planning and carrying out that plan. When my mom was admitted to a locked Alzheimer's ward in a nursing home (Sebo's -- thank you!), the nursing home advised me, as power of attorney, to arrange Mom's final arrangements. I contacted Burns Funeral Home and met with Sally Burns. I told Sally that cremation had been my mom's request, not burial. Also, in accordance with my mom's wishes, we would not hold a funeral service. Sally sat down with me and thoroughly explained how cremation worked. She told me that, by pre-paying, the funds were invested, and that, no matter how many years passed, there would be no need for additional funding. I asked her, what do people do with cremains? She took the time to tell me what was legal and what was not, and relayed the experiences of some of her other clients. She also advised me about how many original death certificates we might need, because there is a small fee for each original. I was able to take paperwork with me and also provide a set for the nursing home. Mom died almost three years after my initial meeting with Sally Burns. The nursing home notified Burns Funeral Home of my mother's death. The day after mom died, I got a call from another lady at the funeral home, telling me that had all the paperwork ready for me to sign. I stopped by that day, met with the lady (sorry, I don't recall her name) who was very helpful. She answered by questions, talked about different urns and the virtues of each, and told me the timeline for the cremation. A few days later, I got another call from Burns Funeral Home, saying that mom's cremains were ready. I picked them up, along with the death certificates, and that was that. When you're dealing with the death of a close relative, you appreciate professionalism and experience. I got all that, and more, from Burns Funeral Home. I recommend them to you.”
