Herzog Trucking has an interesting way of doing business. I work for Cleveland Corporation out of Zion Il. We have a driver on vacation and we were looking for an outside hauler to take some loads for us in his absence. Ben from Herzog made a commitment to send us a driver to work as our own for this time. Monday the driver came in and took a load for us and we preloaded his truck for Tuesday so that he would be able to leave early to make two loads. Tuesday the driver made it to our yard after 11 which was to late to make it back to a mill (I would like to add that our driver went to the same mill that morning and made it back to our yard in time to take a second load). Tuesday evening (around closing) Ben emailed me saying that we need to give his driver at least 9 hours a day to make this arrangement work. Wednesday morning I emailed Ben back in an attempt to solve this problem. He read the email and ignored me. We hadn't seen the driver after awhile so I emailed Ben again asking if there was a hold up or if the driver was sick. Again he read it and ignored me. At 2 I emailed him a third time in an attempt have a conversation with Ben about how to get his driver the hours he needs. Again I was ignored. At about 2:50 I emailed him a forth time asking AGAIN what was going on and I finally received a short unsympathetic reply. (I have attached a picture of the email) He informed us at the very end of the day that he would not be sending us a truck the next day. Essentially hanging us out to dry. He didn't offer any apology or attempt at a solution he just replied "no truck tomorrow". Had he replied to my emails we could have gotten the driver the hours he informed us Tuesday that he needed. (when Ben made the commitment he did not inform us that there was a minimum on hours we had to provide his driver with. He simply told us that he'd send us a driver and he would work as our own for the week.) In his sort unprofessional email he also mentioned his driver was stuck in four hours of traffic. This is hard to believe as again our driver made it to the same mill and back with no issue. Perhaps his driver was lying to him in an attempt to get out of doing our loads. Or maybe his driver was going a longer way. All these issues could have been solved with some communication. So in short Herzog: Has horrible communication with there customers. Doesn't put forth any effort to solve problems. Has no regard for the well being of their customers business (didn't let us know we wouldn't have a driver to cover loads until it was to late to find a replacement company) Look else where for your trucking needs!
