The problems with Stowe's post office continue. Packages are not being delivered in a timely manner. Called the local post office and was hung up on by the employee Bernie (shocker). I called them this morning, and shockingly someone actually answered! I inquired about the package issue, on top of the fact that my street hasn't received letter mail in 7 days. The employee admitted that they were 1/5 - 2 weeks behind delivering packages. When I asked them if it would be possible to come down and pick up my packages, they told me that the packages were all lumped together in a single pile, and finding specific packages was not possible.I also inquired why these packages are not sorted in any way so people can come down to pick them up instead of having to wait up to 2 weeks. I was told that they didn't have the room or the staffing to handle that. Ironically, if they had been delivering packages in a timely manner, they wouldn't be so backed up.Regardless, the current postmaster needs to go.

Terrible place. Kristine McAllister, the postmaster, seemingly sets the tone for a toxic work environment, and the rest of the employees seem to follow her lead, while at the same time despising her. She comes across as arrogant, incompetent and uncaring, just punching the clock. My experience is that they lose about 25% of the packages, 10% of the letters, and hardly ever place any notifications in mail boxes. Worst part is they will blame the customer for their incompetence.

This is the friendliest post office I have ever known. It's nice to go pick up your packages and not have to tell them what your name or a box number is. The Stow post office employees are always really helpful it's a great place to visit when you run into everybody in town that you know.

I am writing this very honest review because I am just fed up. I recently found a great deal on some clearance items with my favorite online retailer, and I was super excited to get the items. This part has NOTHING to do with the Postal Service, this was just one of those things that happens. When I made the order, my shipping preferences somehow defaulted delivery to my old physical address in Stowe, a location that had no physical delivery. I attempted to call the retailer, and I was on the phone with them twice, for over an hour each time, but they had all ready begun the shipping process and they told me I needed to contact UPS and Fed-Ex because these items were "Smart Post/Ship" or whatever, so I called Fed-Ex AND UPS and they informed me that they couldn't hold my packages because the "Smart Post/Ship" process means the items are carried initially by UPS and/or Fed-Ex and then handed off to USPS to do the actual delivery. My stomach filled with dread; this meant I had to deal with the post office for the town in which town I no longer reside: Stowe, Vermont. I have absolutely had the worst experiences with an employee of this Post Office, the woman named Bernie. She is rude, coarse, uncaring, has a horrible demeanor, and I don't know how in this world she was EVER put in any kind of customer service capacity. How does she continue to be employed there? I have family, friends, and colleagues who will walk out of the post office if she is working the desk. But I bit the bullet and I made the phone call to the Stowe post office. Skip, the Postmaster General answered. I LOVE Skip. He is professional and kind. I have never had an issue with him or his service. I explained the situation over the phone and he assured me that as the items were undeliverable, that they would be set aside for me, and to go to the post office and ask them to look for my packages on the shelf of "Undeliverable" mail. I was so thrilled! I knew everything was going to be okay. Except it wasn't. I went to the post office yesterday and the woman in question, Bernie, came to the desk. I don't understand how she continues to, over the years, never improve, never be nicer, never develop any sort of kindness or empathy for the customers. Is it NORMAL for Postal Service employees to be so awful to their customers? I was the only person there and she behaved as if she would rather be doing ANYTHING else than talking to me. I explained the situation and what Skip said when I called, and she rudely cut me off and said that they absolutely did NOT have my items, that she, personally, had looked up my name and found an expired forwarding order that was "very, very old," and because of that she immediately and personally returned my packages to the sender and there was absolutely NOTHING I could do about it. Her manner made me feel like I had killed her dog and then defecated on its corpse. She couldn't have been ruder to me if she reached over the desk and slapped me across the face. I have literally NEVER had that kind of horrible experience before in my whole life. I get it, though. I completely understand that if a post office can't deliver a package they would send it back. However, I called ahead, I spoke to the person in charge. I made sure everything was going to be okay. I went out of my way to give them a heads up to let them know to expect me in to get the packages. I did my due diligence in this process, and because of Bernie, I don't know if I'm ever going to get my merchandise. The least- the VERY LEAST she could have done was to be kind to me about it. To apologize. To have some empathy for me. I was crushed. I almost started crying. How could she be so harsh?! Writing this right now my hands are shaking and I feel like I'm going to have an anxiety attack. I've lived in many different towns in many different states. I've even had mail sent to post offices via General Delivery beca
