If I could give this place a 0 I would. They never answer the phone!! They have two associates phone sitting right there ringing and she said we only have two people working here. What she didn't know is I'm calling before I come in the door and she is litterly sitting there doing nothing but surfing the internet!! Then they don't even tell you car has to be returned by 3, when they don't close until 5!! Just bad all the around and insurance companies either partner with them because of the kickbacks or because they don't care about there customers either!!

The location has such opportunity, but always let's you down! [Has For almost a Decade]
The buisness structure as a whole of renting from Hertz always feels "scammy", however the execution from this location only personified the feeling.

Absolute worst experience do not rent from here! They called me 3 days prior to my reservation to cancel and tell me they have no cars. To not refund me over 200 dollars for somthing they cancelled. Good luck ever getting ahold of anyone have called over 10 times to be led in circle and hung up on.

Rented a faulty car2x was told I would be ref. was +$3,000 old manager stole my stuff! EV's beware.I rented a Tesla last Nov.was turned away from airport. Was n car 4 12h's tow never arrived.This location stole all n car +$1100 rental fees that was told would be refunded! I knew the car was definitely defective and they told me twice to take it to the airport and they said they would not replace it from a different location! Even though they knew the location was closed for staff is! I’m in the president’s circle! This car was the worst! Another rental was definitely defective(Volvo requires internal internet but didn't work!) thousands gone!
**The new manager is awesome and I have hope they will fix this issue! I luv hertz and want to see if they care about their customers! The new staff is not responsible for this issue!
I will report back on this issue as soon it is fixed!
Hope they do better than the previous staff!

This is yet another review that will likely receive a generic, copy-pasted response from Hertz, which ultimately accomplishes nothing. Here's my experience:
I rented a car in Chicago with the intention of returning it at the Carmel location on Saturday. When I arrived, the location was closed, even though the system indicated it was open. I called customer service and, after a 30-minute wait, was instructed to leave the car at the location, take pictures, and document the fuel level and mileage, which I did.
Given my distrust of rental agencies, I decided to return on Monday to ensure everything was in order. I was greeted by a very rude and disrespectful young lady who informed me that the contract had to be closed. She treated me with such disrespect, essentially kicking me out without any assistance in closing the contract or verifying that the car was okay.
I am appalled that Hertz employs individuals who treat customers this way. It’s unacceptable and needs to be addressed.

This branch is closed and gives no notification to customers of this until you see a sign at their door stating the branch is closed until further notice and to go to the Castleton branch. If your reservation is around 5:30pm you may be too late arriving there before they close like I was with no alternative ride. Based on previous reviews, it sounds like your reservation may not be secured anyway even if you do make it on time. To make matters worse, customer service isn’t aware of this closure and state “Sorry for your inconvenience. Our records show the location is open. Our best option is to come back tomorrow.” Based on my experience, it made me feel that Hertz really doesn’t care to make things right, which is very disappointing. As others have already mentioned in past reviews, this is an ongoing issue and yet nothing has really changed. Go elsewhere with your business.

We arrive for our confirmed reservation via Lyft to a notice saying the location is closed. Then traveled to the other location (at additional cost for Lyft) where we are initially told that they don’t have a car for us and were just too busy to call. Apparently other people have had similar issues.

Canceled my reservation with no real explanation and the person that called to tell me was extremely rude. Worst customer service I've experienced. Hopefully the other location I'm using is better.

I have just arrived in an Uber to pick up my rental, but to my disappointment, I was greeted by a statement that there are no available cars. The lady simply apologized and walked away, demonstrating the utmost unprofessionalism in service that I have ever encountered. Now, during rush hour, I am left waiting for an Uber for 40 minutes under the scorching sun. This situation is absolutely unacceptable and has pushed me to the point of cutting ties with Hertz. Rest assured, I will also make sure to spread the word on social media about this experience.Why is this place allowed to be in business is beyond me. Just look at the reviews!!!

Had a rental confirmed for 8:30am. I was called at 6:30pm the night before and told they didn’t have a car and my confirmation was cancelled. No help was provided just told it was canceled and that was that. Also it is telling that they use a bot to respond to all reviews. Exact same “owner”response for every cancelled reservation complaint

I made a reservation to pick up a van at 1700. I arrived at 1650 and the door was locked with a customer inside. Once the customer left I communicated to employee I had a reservation pick up for a van at 1700 and which they replied they had no vans in their lot. When I asked if they could support canceling the reservation so I was not charged a “no show” fee in which they replied to call customer service. Very poor in person customer service.

This is the absolute worst place I have ever rented from, and unfortunately for me, my business forces me to use Hertz. I can PROMISE you that I will NEVER use this location again and will drive the hour to the airport instead. The last time I tried to pick up a car, this location closed early and forced me to go to the airport anyway. I was stupid and rented here again. I was given an electric car that I DID NOT ASK FOR, was not told about it, and had more than 5 hours added to my business trip on the road to charge it. I have had hours of time and a great deal of stress added to a WORK trip. My rental was not connected to my membership, so it cannot even be found in the app, and I was given a car that smelled so badly of cigarettes (and also exactly as the guy who rented it to me smelled, so they should maybe put the cigarette out before the so-called "cleaning" takes place), it was dirty inside, had a smashed vanity mirror, and no caps on the air valves of the back tires, so I got to spend time airing up the tires for them, too. The mishandling of this rental for me is absolutely unacceptable, and I am sitting here with 2 hours left in my drive, waiting at least that long for this car to charge, so I guess there is nothing else for me to do but warn the rest of you. SAVE YOUR TIME, MONEY, AND STRESS.

Never again. They cancelled my reservation less than 24 hours before I was set to arrive because THEY overbooked. Hertz's only solution was a phone call. The Carmel, IN manager lacked compassion or remorse for potentially hindering our family trip. "Sorry" is not an excuse, especially when my reservation was made and prepaid for months in advance. Hertz Customer Services was useless, Julie R gave me the excuse that "The travel industry at large is experiencing high demand for travel while facing shortages in vehicle availability from manufacturers." Sounds like it's a Hertz issue because Enterprise stepped up. Thank goodness Enterprise doesn't have the same poor management, excuses or shortages when it comes to serving its customers.

Sadly can’t do 0 stars. Per usual terrible experience. Said many times I would not use this service company personally ever however I don’t have a choice when it comes to fleet getting rentals. Had a reservation set for today 1/31/24 and was told to call for a pickup at service shop at 9:30 so they can come get me I do just that just for them to say “we don’t have any rentals available we’re NEGATIVE rentals right now” so a reservation means 0 and they will not hold said vehicles or promise you a rental when they never had any. Please save your self the revoke and use any other rental service. I feel bad for anyone who try’s to utilize hertz and is in a rush or from out of town needing one. There really isn’t any good excuse or reason for this poorly mismanaged experience. One thing you can rely on is poor performance from them for that five stars.
