Went to Cathy today for a haircut. Being 3mo postpartum my hair has been thinning and falling out. She listened to me and gave me suggestions when I didn’t know what to do with it. I left feeling confident and loving my new haircut!Services: Hairstyling

Every hairstylist I've had has done a great job and they are always so nice.Only down fall is the turnover.

They don’t like new clients. The agent today talked to me like she was too good to take my call. Made it like I was bothering her by asking questions and not explaining anything properly or even in a welcoming way. She expected me to know all the answers about their salon and how it works. The attitude in her tone made me uncomfortable, even though I was so nice.. but still. She slammed that phone so quick hung up because I said certain times wouldn’t work for me she said ok and hung up! So I didn’t even book my consultation. Didn’t want to waste my time calling back and then dreading if I’d receive the same experience in store. Seeing the response from management for another review reassures that while there may be good stylist I did the right thing to choose and go somewhere else. No professionalism and no customer service is bad practice. Get off your high horses. How can you be so uptight, and judge to someone trying to make an appointment over the phone as a new guest??

Aundie is the best! Love her simple and easy-to-use styling, as well as the Ref products she uses on my hair. Highly recommend!

don't go to this place they take advantage of their stylists and are only in it for the money. they don't pay their stylists nearly enough money for the amount of work they do and i can't begin to think of supporting a business who doesn't care for their hard workers. i'll get my hair done somewhere else. ashamed of their ethical and moral behavior

My last appointment with Liz was far from professional. I came in to have fusion extensions removed, which I had started the process the night before with an adhesive remover I purchased from Amazon. I brought it along just in case and glad I did! Stylist was not prepared with the correct remover she began with a remover that was for tape-ins and eventually started using the one I brought in - then suggested we use HAND SANITIZER to remove the hair. Once we figured out my remover was working another employee searched the back for adhesive release spray, and I offered to help speed up the process of removing the hair. (Yes I sat in the chair for 3 hours helping to remove my own hair) My original appointment was for a removal, highlight and to add new extensions in. After being tugged around for 3 hours she admitted herself my scalp was too red to continue and I had told her I was sore from the process and was considering coming back at a later date to have the extensions put in. I asked her several times if that was okay and she promised me it was fine and went on to tell me about all of her plans she had for that day after our appointment. Verbatim told me that “this works out perfectly” for both our schedules because I also had plans after our appointment, and was not up for sitting through the painful process of sew in extensions which she told me would last another 2 hours. After she finished toning and drying my hair there was still glue left on several strands of my natural hair. I told her that’s fine I will work it out later, I also asked her not to style me because my hair had been through so much. I went to pay and the receptionist said“we agreed on since there is no pricing for removal to charge you $100/hr because that is what we do for all booked out appointments so that will be $550” I immediately questioned the pricing for the service I received and was left standing there in confusion until she finally admitted it should be lower and asked the receptionist to drop it to $250. The receptionist also told me that the price of $550 would have been the same if I had received the entirety of the original service? How does this make any sense and why was this not communicated to me by the stylist?Shortly after I left, I received an email stating CK Designs is no longer able to service me based on my appointment history. I’m assuming because Liz went ahead and “took the L” as she said after rolling her eyes about my questioning the price.I would also like to point out throughout our appointment she was very quick to make rude remarks at me. While I was helping remove the hair, my cape was covered in adhesive remover right under my nose. I simply asked “can we switch out for a new cape i feel like I’m huffing paint” to which she responded “well I can smell it too” ok and? I’m not sure why she had an attitude but this happened several times throughout our appointment. The entire experience was awful and regardless if they had dropped me as a client or not I would not have been going back there anyways.-first, removal only took 3 hours- second, Liz and I were both in agreement it was too much for my scalp to handle at the time and she did not communicate to me that I would have to pay for the entirety of the booked out appointment even though I only received a fraction of the service (not to mention helping with the service myself)-third, I left the salon unstyled with GLUE IN MY HAIR!!!!!!!!!!! And no extensions!!! Why on earth would $550 make any sense.Cancelling a client for questioning your pricing is bad for business. I did nothing wrong and still tipped 20%. I even agreed to pay the $550 if that is really what the price was supposed to be all I did was vocalize my concern with the reasoning. Communication is seriously lacking in this salon I hope they figure it out and do better.See owners response below which validates my points of unprofessionalism and poor communication Pricing was never explained to me like she claims and Liz being rude throughout the appointment never addressed

Don't go here if you want your hair to look nice. Got a hair cut here and they ruined my hair and refused a refund because they thought they did nothing wrong.

I am posting my review yet again since owner took it down. I am positing this review due to the fact they had asked me to reach out to them and they NEVER responded to my email. So here we are, this review will stay. Here is the email/review sent to CK Designs-I would like to first state that I hate to have to even reach out to your salon and leave negative feedback as I always try my best to support local businesses. However, after your response left on my Facebook review I feel the need to. What I hope to come from this is additional training on Afro-American hair for your stylist(s) and potentially a refund for the services I had done in CK salon. My original balayage cost me upwards of $400 in Illinois and an additional $300 at your salon and having to have the mess fixed was another $300. Total spent on my hair is close to around $600 after having the horrible experience at your salon. What I hope whomever this goes to understand that my texture of hair takes years to grow, maintain length and healthiness and the heartbreak and frustration of having to cut my hair was devastating. On another note, embarrassing being in a professional position with orange hair. Not only did this take a huge effect on my mental health and confidence, but my pocket as well. My review is listed below, thank you!"I have been debating on writing this review for months because I always try my best to support local businesses. CK Designs has been the worst salon experience I have ever had. To explain my visit, I had a professional balayage done in October 2019 and visited CK Designs earlier this year to have it touched up. When I originally had my balayage done in Illinois, it looked professional, clean, healthy and I was extremely happy. When I called CK Designs, they had explained that they had a stylist there (I will not name her name to support her steady business during this time) that was trained and experienced with very curly hair. I am bi-racial, my hair is naturally VERY curly and I had stated more than once that it has taken over 2 years to get my hair to the length and health it was at. It was important to me to have a stylist experienced with my texture due to the fact it has taken years to get it to the point it WAS at. At my session, I told the stylist I wanted a touch up done with the balayage, the pieces that were already highlighted I wanted lighter. The stylist clearly was not familiar nor trained with my texture. Long story short, leaving the salon my ENTIRE head was orange (with dark roots), I ended up having to cut my hair 5 inches (which has taken me 2 years to grow) from the damage caused and I paid close to $400 for this service. This disappointment I feel from this salon is beyond words. The stylists whom work there need to undergo further training with African American hair, bi racial hair etc or do not state that your stylist are trained with these textures."

I recently started coming to CK Designs and I have been pleased with my stylist, Liz. I like the color and cut I receive. I highly recommend Liz and the salon.

Been going to CK designs for two years and will never go anywhere else. I’m very picky about who I let touch my hair and Liz always does an amazing job. My hair is very thick, and used to be very long until I recently cut it and they’ve kept it healthy. Highly recommend CK.
