Upon arriving we were greeted by a large lab. Beautiful dog, but barking very loud. We love dogs, but I could see how that would scare some people. The innkeepers... the guy was nice and helpful. The lady was...odd. We thought it a little unprofessional that when we returned from dinner she was sleeping on the couch in the common area. There were no instructions on how to use the fireplace in our room so that took awhile to figure out, there was a note with details of the amenities and it mentioned a coffee and tea bar available 24/7, but no instructions on how to use the tea pot so.. no tea for me. The ceiling fan in our room was apparently operated by a switch on the wall- which we didn't know until morning. My husband was hot all night(I loved not having air blowing on me). I was upset that the indoor pool was closed(my fault for not noticing that as it was stated on the website-i just didn't think about it as it is an indoor pool). Bed was very comfortable, the shower was also nice. The breakfast was the best I've had anywhere. This man can cook! He gave good recommendations on places and directions to get there. Overall, it was good, but I would have went to a hotel had I known about the pool being closed. Pools are one of the amenities I specifically look for when looking for a place to stay. But, as I said, it was stated on the website that it was closed so I really have only myself to blame. At least the room was clean and the breakfast was amazing.Rooms: Clean and well decoratedSafety: We felt very safe hereFood & drinks: Breakfast was very very good

First of all there’s no Brenda and Homer has way too much on his hands and mail delivery job. But to his credit he’s trying! We were promised a pool and it really would have been nice if he had either told us it was down or given us a discount for it being down especially since he called us and said he couldn’t get massages for us. He kept blaming the repair man but from the pictures it looks like it had been down a long time. The private patio didn’t have a table and chairs but a a swinging chair by a very noisy ac unit! Nice little pond though. Big Amish style breakfast was misleading as well. First morning was a casserole and we skipped the rest which led to an upset worker because we didn’t leave a our note in the right spot although we placed it where the note pad was! The trash was emptied once and the wet washcloths picked up once and no clean towels or daily room “freshening” as advertised. Otherwise the room was nice, clean and comfortable.

The breakfasts were chef-quality. The Loft room was plenty big enough, and even had a little window on wildlife, with a robin's nest that was very neat to see.

A few weeks back, my girlfriend and I wanted to get out of Chicago and do something we haven't done before. She found this bread and breakfast called "Scottish", which is located within the Amish area/community. Our host, Homer, was one of the sweetest guys we've ever met. We were running late and then we forgot about the time change so by the time we arrived, we were about 4 hours late. Homer said not to worry and that he'd be waiting for us. Upon our arrival, Homer sat with us at the kitchen table and showed us some maps of the Amish community. The next morning, he took us to a familiar Amish restaurant for brunch which was an awesome experience. After that, my girlfriend and I went off on our own and saw lots of really neat stuff and ate some really good food. By the end of our day, we were happy to know where we were going back to. Homers! The next morning he made breakfast for us and we ended up chatting for a couple of hours. That's how friends are made and today we are happy to call Homer our friend. We will absolutly be back each season. The overall accommodations exceed our expectations. The rooms are big and the beds are too. You've got everything you could need there even a pool! We are looking forweard to going back around May to see Homer and to ride our bike down those looooong roads. I highly recommend this place because it's a personal experience and meeting Homer will make you day as it did ours! Thanks again Homer! Jimmy

If you are looking for a brilliant way to reconnect with the magic in the world, look no further. Homer's B&B is a wonderful home away from home. Celebrating a birthday in the middle of a pandemic could have been stressful. However, with the help of Homer, my birthday weekend was one to remember! Homer is knowledgable, fun, & made perfect recommendations! In addition to the B&B, I was able to enjoy breakfast with traditional Amish, support local artists, and slow down enough to enjoy the simple pleasures in the world! I'll be back! Thank YOU!!

I wish there was a negative star, as that is what this owner deserves. We called and made a reservation in August for a stay in October. The reservationwas made directly with the owner. We reserved the king suite, specifically because of the 2 person Jacuzzi. He invited us to visit on Sunday to get the code for our Monday arrival. When we arrived, he informed us he had us in a loft room with 2 beds and no tub. We showed him an email we sent to him confirming our conversation, including the room type and the rate. He would not accommodate us.The business practices of this establishment are severely lacking. He did not send a confirmation to us, and I should have insisted he provide one or called requesting an answer to our email.

If I could give this place more stars I would. The owner who's name is Homer goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is memorable. His knowledge and insights of the area make your trip special. This adorable bed and breakfast has an indoor pool, DVD collection and our room had a fireplace and whirlpool tub along with a private balcony. The food every morning was really good with fresh fruit and locally sourced ingredients. You also get to choose what you want for breakfast the night before. The customer service here reminds you of how things were done years ago. We will be back and I highly recommend this place.
