Warning, the people who work here are extremely rude.I wanted an emotional support animal to help me through college so I went in to adopt a kitten today and they would not let me adopt because there are kids in my home. They have no policy against that but yet because of that they deemed me unfit? I have never heard of that. I take good care of my animals and after contacting my vet they knew that.

We adopted two eight week old kittens Willy and Waldo ...they have been a complete joy.. the staff was very helpful and very patient with me.. I couldn't make up my mind so ended up getting both of them and that was the very best decision ever..we love them both so much!! I would highly recommend the Bluffton animal shelter experience!!

Wish I could rate lower. Because I had to give my family dog up almost a year ago to make sure she went somewhere safe. These heartless people wouldn't let me adopt a kitten for my teenager who is in need of an emotional support animal. I feel this is injustice and very heartless and to make me feel like I was a horrible person for making sure my dog whom I loved and had had for 4 years was well taken care of up to date on all shots and fixed so that no one could breed her. But these people made me feel like I was the worst person in the world. To top it off we drove 2 hours because my kid fe6in lo e with the kitten I the pictures. Thank you people breaking child's heart andf making me feel like scum.

They killed my daughter's cat plain and simple...this shelter doesn't try to unite missing pets. It's a total for profit butchery, and as soon as the pet you adopt from here goes missing they'll capture it, slaughter it and take your money to adopt another one...if you're supporting this rancid dumpster fire with donations then you are part of the problem.

Last winter my husband and I turned in some cats to this shelter. They informed me because I chose to turn in an animal , We would never be considered to adopt anything in Wells Co. Hateful snobs !! Why did we turn in the cats??? We are both highly allergic to cats and I didn't want the cats to freeze to death outside. Shame on me ???? I think not!!!

This facility must not receive much funding or donations.I took in a cat that had been abandoned at a house a friend had moved in to. After attempting to acclimate her to my house, it was evident that she was a queen of the house, single pet household kind of cat. I expressed this to the staff when I brought her in. Said she wasn’t 100 percent okay with other cats but didn’t outright attack them, but was tolerant of our dog and children. The staff did ask me how many litter boxes I had which I said two, knowing they’d tell me that wasn’t enough. They briefly discussed it amongst themselves and said since she wasn’t adoptable, they would not be taking her. She isn’t an outdoor cat at all but they suggested I try putting her up on Facebook marketplace as a possible barn car, which any proper pet owner would not do. I do not have the time or resources to properly screen people and even though she isn’t a good fit for my family, doesn’t mean she isn’t a good fit for someone else’s. They also suggested euthanizing her, which I suppose would also result in some kind of income for them. I refused. They also said they were the only facility in the area and since I lived in Wells she couldn’t be taken anywhere else. Super duper helpful. So bottom line, they aren’t interested in sheltering animals as the title of the facility would have it, they’re just interested in turning a profit as quickly as possible, be it by adoption fees or euthanasia fees. Fortunately my friend who I got the cat from lives in Allen County, so she’ll be able to take her to a shelter that’s actually invested in the wellbeing of animals, even those that are a little more challenging to place.
