I went into the Bargersville H&R Block this morning to file my taxes. I normally file my own but after so many changes this year, I thought it best to have professionals look at it. When I went in I was told that I would have to drop off my documents and they would call me with any questions and then I would come back at end of week to review and file. I pointed to the HUGE sign standing in the middle of the room saying to “drop in and stay or drop off and go”. He said that they are not allowing anyone to stay. I assumed that was just their office so I said that was fine but I didn’t feel comfortable leaving the documents and preferred to stay and wait especially with all the changes this year so I would just go to another office. He then proceeded to tell me that no H&R Block are allowing people to stay. That it is an H&R Block policy now for all. I told him I could just find a different company then and he told me it would be the same and still take the same amount of time At this point I was prepared to drop it off bc I figured he knew what he was talking about but something told me not to and I’m glad I didn’t. I left and called the H&R block in Franklin, who told me that it completely untrue. That H&R Block does not have that policy in place and they allow people to stay as long as they wear a mask. I would highly recommend coming to the Franklin office as they have been super helpful and allow you to stay. If the Bargersville office chooses to not allow people to stay that is totally fine, but to tell potential clients that it is the same with all H&R Block offices just to keep clients from leaving, is not only a blatant lie but also unprofessional. I am so glad I listened to my gut and left bc I wouldn’t want someone who lies to me to work on my taxes.

My tax return came out to an illegal percent of effective tax rate. Half was misspelled, and half the numbers were fudged. Wasn't even given options to give the information required to properly file taxes. (Don't drink the water) Ameba that deteriorates brain tissue and cognitive behavioral health is definitely a factor.

Poor knowledge about paper processing. They doesn't know how to manually calculate tax child credit for paper filing with ITIN application.

They told me that there professional opinion of what it would cost to do my taxes. And I went with them from that information. Took them a month to do them and then it was more than triple the price of what there professional opinion of what I would have to pay. Feel like they scammed me into using them. I will never use this hnr block again.
