No kill shelter a plus, but they need a lot of help to give these animals the care and love they so desperately need. I'm going to volunteer after the holidays when I can give much more time. Donations and adoption +

Madison County Humane Society is pretty much worthless. I was attacked by my neighbors dog Sheriff Department came out. Turned it over to Animal Control through the Humane Society. I called two, three times a week for 4 weeks before I got a call back. Then she said there was nothing she could do about it. So, I get attacked by my neighbors dog and it’s no one’s job to help me. What are we paying these people for??? This dog still runs loose after two months. I can’t let my grandkids out in our backyard because of this dog. Animal control in Elkhart County would have been out within the hour to pick this dog up. Time to step up to the plate Madison County, earn your pay. ?????

I do not recommend coming here to get an animal I decided to come here almost 2 weeks ago to pick up what was suppose to be a kitten and come to found out it the cat is almost 3 years old cat and on there website it said the cat was 6 months and was playful, curious, lovable and affection well I have not seen that at all I every time I walk past the cat or try to go love on the cat it runs and hides upstairs I have tried to play with the cat i have tried to love the cat but to no avail the cat still hides when you try to get near her.On top of that when you walk into the building it smells and there dogs are left outside in the front of the building you are not aloud to go look at any of the animals they just tell you to wait in the front well the go to the back to grab your pet they are very unprofessional here. They said that they would be open at 12 but come to find out that was another lie and when the lady open the door and I told her who I was and what cat I was picking up she didn't even know who I was even though I called the day before the two lady's working there did not dress professionally here and they look like they just got out of bed again I do not recommend coming here to find your forever furry pet

These folks work hard to provide a clean shelter for local cats and dogs. This place has been around a long time and has been a good place to find a forever fur baby. ❤️

We were looking to adopt another pitbull mix to be a companion for our 4 year old pit and 10 year old mastiff mix. They introduced us to Zero (on the left - now called Zemo). He was about a year old and the perfect personality to mix with out current dogs. The team at the shelter were great to work with. They answered all our questions via email, helped is introduce Zemo to our current dogs to make sure their personalities meshed and made the adoption process super easy. We've had Zemo for about 6 months now and can't imagine life without him.

Very disappointed with this place. I understand there is a lot of volunteer work that goes into it, but I thought the goal was to find homes for these fur babies? My family went to there to help home a dog after getting through the pain of losing our last dog at 11 1/2 years old. We seen that they were by appointment only with an application through their site. No biggy. We fill out the application. After a few days we are told we are approved to adopt. I asked to schedule an appointment and never heard back. I tried emailing and calling to no avail. I had a co-worker who said she tried on and off for a year to get an appointment to adopt and then she just gave up. We had an old school friend looking for a home for a last pup of a litter at 4 1/2 months old and decided to go that route.

This is a great place to adopt. They make sure the animal is going to a good home. So if you are wanting to walk in and walk out with a pet this isn't the place. If you would like to actually go through a good process of adoption then this is the place for you. People are so nice and truly love their jobs!We got butterball! He is such a great dog and is such a cutie! Thanks again!
