“I am a frequent shopper at this store. I recently found an old unused gift card from Sunset Foods for $100. It was probably 10 years old. Before shopping I asked the customer service guy if the card was still good. He said if it wasn't used, it was still good. I asked him to check it before I shopped. He said he didn't need to check it.
I tried to.use it at checkout and found out it was no good. This was embarrassing and I bought more items than usual, thinking I could use this card.
I paid for the groceries, but this should not have happened if he had checked the card, as I asked, before I shopped.
Prior to this, I have been very happy with the products and service.”
“I’ve been shooting at that store more than 10 years and I love it now I would like to share my experience it’s such an amazing one stop to shop they have everything from the Middle East and more their price very reasonable compared to other places everything fresh the store very clean. The owner are wonderful. I recommend everybody to visit a shop from there.i wish Google has more than 5 starts but I will throw another 5 starts from me as a chef thanks allot brother’s grocery store”
“Obsessed with this place. They have just about everything you can think of. If I’m running to the store it’s to this one. Also love the panini and nachos. Customer service here is top notch they know their inventory and are super friendly.”
“Hello, in general, people talk about bad attention in different types of businesses, this time I want to highlight the kindness of the staff who serve in such a busy place, all people have a vocation in customer service, educated, kind and friendly people, I think That makes and marks the difference from other businesses and this time I highlight Ms. Dora because she is always willing to provide a smile and excellent service.
I congratulate the owner(s) of that prestigious establishment for their staff.”
“so happy to have found a zero-waste store selling non/low-toxic alternatives here in chicago. really amazing store, and their cafe is next door with vegan sweets.”
“Simply some of the best sandwiches in Evanston. And they are very good sized meaning you can pretty much make two meals from one sandwich for lunch. chips are pretty darn good as well.”
“Kol Tuv is a hidden gem on Devon Ave in Chicago. It is a specialty grocery store that carries an eclectic variety of foods that cater to all different populations. They have all the items you would find in a typical grocery store plus gluten free, dairy free, kosher, gourmet etc. When you go, you must check out the selection of chocolates and candies. The staff is friendly and helpful and the store is immaculate. This store makes grocery shopping fun and exciting! Hope you love it as much as we do!”
“The store is great. The employees are great. What makes this store problematic is the parking lot and the pushy self-entitled shoppers/drivers. Customers have a "look-out-for-me" attitude. The parking lot has people honking at each other, driving the wrong way down a lane, and shopping in much the same manner. It is unnerving. However staff is kind, personable, and helpful. I probably wouldn't shop here again. I'd go to Park Ridge or Evanston. The people that shop here make it a challenge.”
“I love this store, it's just a find! My favorite, the best of the best! There are so many goodies there?♥️ It would be great if there were branches in all states of America?”
“Love this location, people are nice and always have things that I came for in stock. The store is clean but very busy. Only downside of this place is PARKING LOT SUCk! Each slot is narrow and the parking size is small. I think the parking lot flow is a bit odd. Anyway everyone fighting over parking like they sell gold! Oh wait they do! Chocolate gold coins that is. Great place, parking lots suck but nice selections of goodies and nice service.”
“Vegetable store for different tastes!!
Cheap prices!!!
Large selection!!!
I recommend it to everyone!!!
???????”
“Amazingly fresh & high quality produce. Blows the Jewel and Mariano’s out of the water in terms of quality. Great selection of local & organic breads, mushrooms, and snacks.”
“Let me just start by saying, I saw a reel on instagram and only came here for the promise of a gluten free bagel lol. When I got here, there were no gluten free bagels to be found. However, I did find gluten free strawberry muffins, gluten free english muffins, and gluten free hamburger buns. Now, anyone who has to eat gluten free knows how awful it is. Companies pump out cardboard to us, sell it at a high price, give less quality, and less quantity. I gave the english muffins and buns a gentle squeeze and they felt really soft. I figured, let’s take a chance. How bad can it be compared to anything else on the market. I got home yesterday and had a strawberry muffin. When I say I nearly cried tears of joy, I’m not lying. They’re SO soft and SO moist; you’d never know it’s gluten free! Then I grilled up some burgers for dinner and again, to my surprise, you literally couldn’t tell the difference. I actually double checked the packaging to make sure I grabbed gluten free buns and not regular buns! This morning, I made some coffee and toasted my english muffin. Again, it was SO good and SO soft, I double checked the packaging to make sure it was in fact gluten free. Only thing I couldn’t find (I’m not sure if you even carry it to be honest) is a gluten free bagel and gluten free loaf of bread. Either way, I’ll be coming back just because of those three gluten free items. Thank you for making gluten free enjoyable!!”
“I went there to buy meat for the first time and I found it is a nice store and they have everything that Arax has! They have a small grill area and we got beef kabab and I think it was better than many restaurants around the area. The meat section and restaurant employees were friendly even the cashier was good too even better than Arax cashier! I think I will go there for shopping again!”
“Nice selection of vegan goods and produce. I have occasionally gotten something less than quality in terms of vegetables.
Things to note is they do not take manufacture coupons, and can be a bit pricey for some every day items unfortunately.”
“Ukranian grocery store with a pretty great selection of both European and American fare. Baked goods are amazing, fresh meat is very cheap, and produce is always fresh. Staff is very friendly as well.”
“I love their Jewish salad and the eggplant that is already made in the little containers. The only thing that upsets me... The salads only last up to 2 days then it starts smelling sour.... weird.”
“This is such a cute store and the service is great. I think it’s the perfect place to get a quick hostess gift or a gift certificate. Love their curation. Check out the tinned fish if you know what’s good!!”
“Perfect grocery store for college students who want good beer and exotic snacks. Definitely not an affordable option for most groceries, but their well curated beer, cider, and seltzer selection is a draw. Great employees as well.”
“I love Eddys food mart! Lived a few blocks away and I still go to it. They have lots of vegan free ice cream pints for like $7 and dairy free Milk. They have lots of regular items too I usually got and get nachos for my mom. The owner is really nice and I really enjoyed coming here :)”
“Some good some so-so. I like their meat selection but their apple pie is subpar. Just a really lousy apple pie. The workers are much friendlier and less creepy than the Northbrook location.”
“We are visiting Chicago's Northern suburbs, and discovered our favorite grocery chain, TRADER JOE'S. This TJ's is stocked with the same house brands we find in Southern California. The employees are kind and knowledgeable. You know, they listen when you ask a question, then take you to that item. Checking out is quick, easy, and the bagger will move it to your car. Incidentally, TJ,s reusable bags have a long life.
And yes, the prices are good too.
There's an excellent selection of fruits and vegetables, packaged meats, cheese, unique spices, vegan and gluten free foods.
But the real joy of Trader Joe's is their selection of unique snacks, entrees, and desserts. However, there is a catch. TJ's branded products are constantly changing. If you see it and like it - buy it. It may not be there tomorrow.
Everything's ADA compatible. Plenty of free parking.”
“Delicious food and fantastic service... Get the falafel! It's delicious ?
The owner is kind and determined to make sure you leave well fed and happy with your visit. A perfect hidden gem deserving of it's rating.
Note: the food isn't swimming with sauce so it's gonna be a little more dry than a Greek style kebab with yogurt or red sauce but the chicken is moist and tender and the falafel is crisp and fresh.”
“Thank you for making my husband’s 90th birthday celebration so special. All the food was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. Everyone commented on the variety of the sanwiches and how good they tasted. The Gourmet Crudite w/spinach dip and Pinwheel Platters were wonderful.”
“I love it here the cashier I think here name is Debbie? Long Blonde hair short skinny with glasses she is so sweet and nice. Always asking if we need help and does a great job! Store is well stocked, clean, great prices too.”
“great shop if you're looking for coffee. they have very good prices on a good selection of varietals. if you're looking for natural/unwashed, this is the place. they sell green coffee beans and can roast them. the owner is super helpful and courteous and welcoming. I really love getting in here to get my coffee. I've gotten some of the packaged beans, but getting the green ones in the plastic bags roasted is ? ? ?”

“Awesome little corner store. I live nearby and use it mostly for grocery odds and ends. Sometimes I doubt they’re gonna have what I’m looking for but they usually do.”
“PLEASE STOP PLAYING COUNTRY MUSIC!!! Country music has become "code" for a certain brand of politics now, a politics that is conservative, alienating and distasteful. Sorry if you don't like hearing it but it's true. This is not a country music place. I don't like going into the store anymore because they have it blaring loudly which is awful for employees and customers alike. Who made that bad decision??? The new owners??? I have been a customer for 30 years and friendly to all the employees over that time. So to the new ownership: Turn off the country music and play standard popular music from the 90's to now. When you do I will change this review. Otherwise, good store and the upgrades are nice. EDITING THIS REVIEW TO SAY THE STORE WAS NOT PLAYING COUNTRY MUSIC THE LAST 2 OR 3 TIMES I WENT IN BUT I WILL CONTINUE TO UPDATE. THANK YOU LAKESIDE.”
