“My son has been in the program at Montessori of Woodridge for about two months. When he started it he had the verbal skills of a two year old at the age of four. Since he has been in the program, his language has exploded. The staff takes the time to understand what each child needs and gives them the tools to learn. I would recommend this program highly.”

“St. John Lutheran Church is a bastion of orthodoxy and confessionalism in the Lutheran Church. To my knowledge, this is the only Missouri Synod parish that offers daily Mass. Receiving the Lord's gifts is the best way to begin the day, and the beauty of High Mass here is matched by few in the LCMS. The community here is wholly oriented around the Great Commandment of Matthew 22: "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. . . . Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself" (vv. 37, 39). This is truly a parish, pastors and laity alike, that cares about your soul.”

“We needed to find childcare quickly when our daycare closed in the middle of Covid. I got a recommendation to look at Gardner and it truly has been the best decision we ever made. Although there were so many restrictions during that time, including parents not being able to enter the building, the staff went out of their way to make sure I was able to see where my daughter would be through a virtual tour, meet the teacher and answer all of my excessive questions. My daughter has truly flourished at Gardner school and is excited about what she is learning. The teachers/staff make such a connection with each child and it has become a place that feels like family. “We were lucky to have found Ivy when we were searching for day care locations two years ago. They were flexible with our schedules and excellent for our kids. We were especially lucky to have Kim as their main teacher. She went above and beyond for all the kids there every day, and she really felt like family to us. We had to move on, but only due to logistical reasons and it was quite sad to go. If things change we would definitely look to go back to Ivy again. “Cadence Carol Stream was fantastic! Our kids started in the infant and early preschool class, and they recently moved up to toddler and preschool. They attended for 8 months, and we would have stayed longer if we hadn't moved away! The directors Ms Andrea and Ms Carissa are knowledgeable, communicative, and wonderful with the kids. My daughter happily stops at Ms Carissa's office every day for a sticker. The kids flourished under their teacher's care - they came out of their shells and enjoyed the variety of experiences. We can't recommend them enough!”

“Edited to add: the school is now called Gardner school but was Compass when my children attended, which is why it’s referred to as Compass in this review.

We were at a couple different daycare places (both home and "school-like") before my oldest son was in Kindergarten. When he entered 1/2 day K we needed care for the second half of the day and Compass was able to provide transportation to/from his school for us, as well as care for our younger son, who was 1-1/2 at the time. My only regret is that we didn't consider Compass before this time. Both of my children have thrived there. There is not one staff member who I have encountered who was not friendly, capable and caring. The administration is always at the desk to warmly welcome you and my sons' teachers have been nothing but outstanding with communication, professionalism and knowledge of child development. The staff undergoes profressional development regularly.

Children are taught under the Emilio-Reggio philosophy, which has fostered their creativity and independence, but there was still enough structure that making the transition to public school in Kindergarten was a breeze. Their public school Kindergarten teachers commented to us at conferences that the group from Compass has always been ahead of the rest of the class, and we do see this with our own sons.

The facility is always clean and smells fresh. It is well-lit and has plenty of space.

Each day, parents receive an email with a description of the day's events and pictures of what's going on to encourage further discussion at home. There is a monthly school-wide newsletter so that you can see what other levels are doing. Children are celebrated constantly!

One of our sons has a food allergy to all nuts, and Compass is a nut-free facility. They were extremely accomodating to meet his needs and take care of him as I would. I know that they follow this rule- I've seen them ask a parent to take home a treat that was not safe for someone in the class. While some parents may think this is extreme, I think it shows that the staff cares enough about each student to make everyone feel safe and included. In other instances, they have maintained a safety-first attitude.

Overall, I cannot say enough good things about Compass School-North. (Hobson Rd.). In my experience, you get what you pay for. Compass is a little pricier (thought not completely off base) but the staff, their focus on safety, the cleanliness, the warm feeling you get from the teachers and the experiences my children had at Compass has truly set them up with a good foundation upon which to build in the coming years.”

I did a few daycare tours before choosing this location and they gave me the feeling that if I were to leave my son there right then, he would be well taken care of. They have a great app with updates and pictures throughout the day, they are always super clean, and they always have fun activities planned to get the kids engaged. They are also great at communicating needs for your child and listening to you, too.”
