I'm an account holder at the bank. I called to make an appointment to open an account for my late sister's estate. I was told the banks are very familiar with the process. So...i called and went thru 5 automated menus before I spoke to someone live. Already frustrated by this process, the representative was polite but though claiming to know about the process, actually was totally confused yet wouldnt transfer me to someone else. it's hard to believe.... I simply wanted to make an appointment to come in and open this account. Instead I spent 30 minutes on the phone with no result.

Unfortunately, I've recently experienced the unpleasantness of Identity Fraud. I needed a personal banker's assistance to support the dispute process. Mo Ahmed and Shailja the BMO team are exceptionally professional AND we all love the Hubert Lion!Been banking with them since I was a kid; just consistently great service.

My business has been banking with BMO Harris for 13+ years. Every month for 13 years we deposit checks from local school districts. This past Thursday we deposited our monthly check from the same school district. Shortly thereafter we were told they were placing a 7 day hold on the check. This particular check is from one of the larger districts we provide services for. NEVER ONCE in 13+ years has one of their monthly checks bounced. We are paid EVERY MONTH on the Thursday before the 15th of the month. We purposely use the SAME TELLER, so she does know us and who we are. How does a bank randomly decide after 13+ years of depositing checks from the SAME SCHOOL DISTRICTS that they are now going to hold the money for 7 days. We rely on this money for our payroll and daily operating expenses. BMO didn't care if they put us out of business by not releasing the funds. The manager could have contacted the school district to verify the check or contacted Chase to verify funds. The teller could have also told the manager she knows who we are and we make deposits monthly at the same branch. I contacted someone from a different BMO who attempted to work this out with BMO Wheaton. The manager refused to release the hold. This manager could have also gone back through the years to see that the school district checks NEVER BOUNCED. The person from the different branch ended up getting the President of the branch an several other corporate officers involved. No one would over ride the hold this newer manager had put on that check. I could write pages on how AWFUL BMO Harris is when you own a business. I should have left years ago since it is so apparent Harris doesn't care about any person or business. All they care about is their fee's, interest they are earning on OUR check they are refusing to cash, and serving themselves. The fact that none of the branches are very good at retaining employee's speaks for itself. I guess it's time I bite the bullet and get away from Harris and develop a relationship with a bank that actually cares about their customers and small business. BEWARE OF BMO HARRIS!
