This is my go-to Jewel. I live so close that it does not make sense to go anywhere else. It is always clean and the employees we encounter are nice. We have learned that we must check the expiration dates on all the food we buy. Seems the expiration dates are about only a few days out. I always ask for fresh cut meat, usually the meat I find is from two days ago. I do go early mornings, so I might just be missing the rotation. The app is easy to use and even tells you what isle the product is in. Rewards are fun too, great way to track how much you spend on groceries. Wear a jacket because no matter the time of year this store is freezing cold. I would give 5-Stars if it was not for the oddly quick expiration dates. The store is not usually swamped with people which is really nice on Sundays or holiday shopping. Self check-out works great here too. I have done an entire cart without the dreaded 'help needed'.

Jewel has gone downhill! I will most likely never shop at Jewel again! I was at the Dundee location on September 10, 2024 around 3:00 p.m. All the strawberries were bad, tomatoes were rotten, literally rotten. I saw a young worker literally restocking tomatoes (Roma) and not even look at the rotten ones right next to him. Then I went to purchase mixed salad greens and there were only a few selections and they all expired on September 12th (there's usually a week to ten days till expired.) I went up to an older gentleman that was stocking and told him about both situations. He went to the tomatoes and said they were ripe, but proceeded to pull them. Then I showed him the mixed greens and he said he would go in back to look for fresher greens and came back with a date of September 16th. Of course, the one that was on sale for $1.99 was nowhere to be found! Then, I proceeded to the deli, grabbed a number, there was one person in front of me that was being helped. A lady comes up to the chicken section and immediately gets help. I made it known that it was my turn, but it didn't matter. This is coming off the heals of a another encounter at the Jewel in Algonquin in which I emailed Jewel about and they apologized with big words and said a manager would call me and I never heard back. I was excited, when Jewel, this past summer, started adding great produce sales along with everyday items. However, the quality is terrible! Jewel has gone downhill and there's many options in our area to shop at other stores! Jewel doesn't care about their customers, but only satisfying their union workers!

Around 11 am, I went to the store to buy a few things, including a rotisserie chicken that was supposed to taste like Mango Habanero. But to my surprise, when I got home and tried to eat it, the chicken was undercooked and had no flavor at all. It didn't taste like salt, pepper, and certainly not Mango Habanero. It wasn't spicy or anything. I just called the store, and they told me that if I bring the receipt, they can give me a refund. So basically, I should drive 15 minutes back there, waste my time and gas because our chicken has no flavor. I'm very upset about the situation. The person who answered the phone didn't even apologize or express any regrets about the situation. So, whenever I feel like wasting time and gas, I'll go back to that store, which is more than 15 minutes away from my house.

Young man (Brian?) working behind the meat counter was exceptionally rude to me. I asked him the price of an unmarked item and he said "there's a scanner. It will give you something to do". Before I asked him, I asked another employee walking by about the price and they said "I don't have a scanner" and walked away. This is not the only time employees have been rude to me, but this is the first time I've complained. When I spoke to the manager(s) on duty, it was greeted with "which department" and "it happens all the time". If that is so, why hasn't it been addressed? Spoke with other neighbors and they've had similar experiences. There are other grocers in the area and perhaps they want my money more.

The manager was so rude. I asked employees what are items are wic approved in the dairy section. she called a manger and his exact word was I should know . And the cashier I explained to him I was new at this wic thing and that is why I am asking. so I am not sure what is approved or not and he was rude with attitude. I am Hispanic and everyone there seemed rude .

Absolutely trash. Deli closed at 4pm. I placed an order. And the deli was closed at 4.
So they they just send me a crate of water. I don't know who runs this place, and this jewels app is also useless. I'd rather continue buying from costco

I have been shopping at this jewel for years even though jewel is the highest priced grocery store around. I went to this store at 8:45 this evening. When I went to check out I learned that NO check out lanes were open. Every customer was forced to check themselves out. I was informed that this is the way it was scheduled. This is ridiculous. I’m better off going to Aldi which is less than a mile away from Jewel. At least they have people working the registers!

Wednesday at 8.15pm everything is pretty much packed down to be closed and the place is trash and the store hours is until 9pm. Floors were dirty. Some produce stands were already covered. Bakery & deli dept is already closed. Seafood dept was just breaking down. I have to say that this is probably the dirtiest jewel i've been to. Better to have the employees til 8pm and close the store at 8pm rather than unattended for the last hour.

The Jewel is on the smaller side, but the associates are extremely helpful especially in the meat department. Plus it's not a bad place to get a few quick items.
