My family and I stayed here for 4 days. We had a 2 room suite and we really liked it. It was comfortable the room was clean and even had dishes in the kitchen. The furniture was a bit worn but that wasn't a big deal for us. The staff were super friendly and helpful. If you're going to be staying in the area for Navy graduation I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Staying here was great! Roughly half an hour outside of Chicago, 10 minutes to Six Flags and 15 minutes from the Wisconsin border. The rooms were in good shape and the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast here was top notch.
Nearby activities: The Bristol Renaissance Festival is nearby.
Six Flags is nearby.
Chicago is close.

It's easier to describe my experience via the e-mail I sent to the company:
Mr. Clausen,
I am disappointed with your response to the survey I completed regarding our stay at Sonesta ES Suites Chicago Waukegan Gurnee. In the survey, I mentioned finding a pair of used panties under clean towels on the bathroom counter. This caused me to worry about the overall cleanliness of the room, leading to a poor night's sleep.
When we informed the gentleman at the front desk the following morning and showed him pictures of the panties, my husband and I received a tepid response: "I'm sorry about that; I'll let housekeeping know."
In your response to the survey, we have received a similarly canned and vague response regarding the property's cleanliness issue. You did not mention the incident in your email or explain how your team plans to rectify the situation.
As a result of this experience, I am hesitant to recommend this property to the several groups I am part of, who often travel to the area for graduations. In fact, I am more inclined to discourage them from staying at Sonesta ES Suites Chicago Waukegan Gurnee. This incident has left a lasting impression, and in my family, we have renamed Sonesta Suites to 'Sonasty Suites '.

Bare and simple for a short stay

Rooms are low quality, it’s next to a large roadway, and the wi-fi is pretty bad. It’s alright for a quick, but otherwise I wouldn’t recommend it.

READ THE RECENT REVIEWS! This is the worst hotel that I've ever stayed at. The rooms are filthy. Management claims that they aren't, but the bathrooms actively grow mold, there's spider webs in every corner, the garbage disposal doesn't work, it smells terrible, etc. The wifi does not ever work. It was a terribly disappointing experience to stay here.

Room was big and clean. Service was excellent. Pool was nice. Great price. Worked for us!
Noteworthy details: They do charge a deposit on the room. Which surprised me, I don't travel often. And they don't take cash app. Or any of that!!

Booked my reservation months in advance and used a prepaid card to pay for the reservation get to the hotel and they refused to accept the same credit card for the deposit and did not refund my money for the reservation.

If I could give this place a zero star, I would. My parents were staying at this hotel meanwhile their home insurance completed home repairs. Unfortunately, during their stay my mother had knee surgery. The maintenance guy would always tell my mother the elevator did not work so she had to use the stairs. (Never posted a sign Out of Order or Under maintenance) The elevator did work!! He would only say it to her to see her struggle going up/down the stairs. He would always talk in an aggressive/hostile manner and tell my SENIOR parents they did not belong here. When mentioned to the managers they did nothing. On top of the hostility and racist comments this place is dirty and unkept. If I could give any advice to anyone DO NOT STAY HERE, management and front desk are all rude and unprofessional. HORRIBLE AND TERRIBLE HOSPITALITY!!!

This stay was terrible, ill give it zero stars if at all possible.
1. The hotel is so poorly upkept
2. It smells like its a smoking hotel even though they tell you its non smoking.
3. Cob webs and spiders
4. The room cards are barely useful, everytime we left the hotel it would take us upwards to 10 minutes just to get back in because the key cards kept rejecting. People would have to open the door for us. We’ve also had to do the same for others struggling with the same predicament. I mentioned how faulty the key cards were and they all went into an uproar agreeing.
5. The bathroom door in the room would not close! That was super disappointing having kids running around. NO PRIVACY
6. There was so much dust in the room and cobwebs hanging everywhere
7. The walls are unbelievably thin so good luck trying to sleep or just be at peace, between traffic noise and being able to hear everyone clearly in the halls and from nearby rooms
8. A huge flying insect got into our room so we called front desk to ask for assistance, we were baffled when the girl started laughing as if someone told her a joke! She replied “i dont know what you expect me to do?!” Im the only one here at the desk. . . Then proceeded to ask if there was someone in my room who could assist me. . . . I wouldn’t call for assistance if there was?
Then she laughed again and said “well open a window and shoo it out”. . . .
Once again, if i could i wouldn’t be calling you
She continued laughing and said maintenance could help but wont be in for another 2 hours. Mind you we were all beyond sleepy with a very cranky toddler.
She laughed once more after i said well we dont have a broom or anything for us to rectify the issue ourselves, i really dont want to sleep in this room anymore. Her response: “ok well you dont need anything else of me at this point, i have to go”
We were baffled! That was beyond disrespectful and rude. 10 oclock came ( the time she mentioned maintenance was coming in) no maintenance showed up , we waited until 11pm. No courtesy call, nothing. So we packed our belongings and left in the middle of the night. The next few people i spoke with were very nice and showed the highest level of concern for the situation. They did offer another room to stay in but by that time i was already over the hotel. I was ready to go. The manager assured me that is not how they operate business and will do their best to make sure it does not happen again.
All in all, the location was great as it was very close to the base if you are attending graduation but i would say go skip this hotel in my honest opinion. Also forgot to add, you will be charged $5 per night if you have a car for parking. . . Ive never heard of such. . .

I loved the Sonesta, super caring and sweet staff. Plus the lobby smelled SO GOOD!! The 1 bedroom feel makes the king size suite so homey. Very comfortable and clean rooms(: the kitchenette is very cute, stocked and clean! I'd say one of my happiest times in a hotel! My bf and I stayed 2 nights for a festival and they even helped with directions to the site!
