Stayed one night to attend a concert at the Genesee Theater. The room was clean, though outdated. The desk clerk was very nice and helpful. When she noticed my friend used a cane, she informed us the hotel had no elevators and offered to change our room to one on the first floor. We really appreciated that. The bed was comfortable, and didn't see and critters lurking about. Now for the not so great stuff...the bathtub and toilet were a separate room from the sink. The bathroom was so tiny you could barely turn around. The sink had no plug, just an open drain that made it very noisy when the water was running. The heating/AC unit was so loud, every time the fan kicked in we'd have to turn up the volume on the TV. So, a lot of turning up/turning down the sound on the TV. Wifi was available, but kept disconnecting. The next time we come to Waukegan for a concert, we'll most likely stay elsewhere.

Stayed four nights for my grandson's graduation from Navy Boot Camp. Location was great for travel to Base. Rooms and premise were clean. Staff were pleasant and helpful. My only suggestion would be to have more than muffins for breakfast station.Food & drinks: Enjoyed my stay. My only suggestion is to have more than muffins for breakfast.

After reading some of the reviews i was a bit nervous to stay. But it actually was a pretty good experience. I booked a 2 double bed room. The room was pretty spacious and clean. The bathroom is the only thing i wasnt a fan of. Shower was on the smaller side, but its an old building, so thats to be expected. Despite being an old building, the room felt relatively modern and renovated. There was a mini fridge, a microwave, window hvac unit, and an okay sized tv. It seemed like a well constructed building with thickish walls. I wasnt able to hear my neighbors except for their doors closing. The window leaked some sound, you can hear the cars in the nearby intersection. My family and i didnt mind the noise, it wasnt very loud and the hvac window unit drowned out most of the noise, but your noise sensitivity may vary. The front staff were friendly, and quickly checked me into my room. There is no elevator, so bringing luggage upstairs may be a bit of a challenge. You may be able to ask for a room on the first floor though. The main entrance locks after 10pm and requires a room keycard to enter. The complimentary breakfast was just some muffins, and a choice of coffee or orange juice. That was fine with me considering there are plenty of good food options a short drive from the hotel, like Gojo’s, which you can literally walk across the parking lot to. It’s also just a short drive to the Waukegan municipal beach. Overall, i would stay here again.

No elevator so if you have a disability that prevents you from using stairs this is not the hotel for you. The rooms are tiny and the beds are hard. Wish I had known this before I reserved it for 3 days!!! Tiny bathtubs too....sigh....

It is one of the hotels that has moved away from carpet in the rooms. All the light switches were motion sensor type. The shower (no bathtub) did not have a small shelf or ledge to put items on, luckily the top of the shower door was flat. Overall decor was modern 70s HoJo. Parking was tight...best to just go to the end of the hotel and park there. The parking lot is shared by several businesses with "parking only" signs.

affordable but low quality and probably haunted.went there for a navy graduation. super sketchy, no sign on the building saying it's a hotel. most of my ubers said they didn't even know it existed. rooms were outdated. terrible lighting and dirty mirrors. my mom had to switch rooms because all the power went out in her room, then in the next room her ac unit started smoking and set off the smoke detector. one receptionist said that it happens sometimes, while another receptionist said she's never heard that before. 2 floor building with no elevator so i had to haul my luggage up. free breakfast was just apple juice and packaged muffins. and whether you believe in ghosts or not, plan on getting no sleep there. i stayed for 3 nights and every night i was woken up by random banging. sounds almost like doors being slammed or things being dropped. one night it was even a consistent banging. at first i thought it was people making the noise but honestly doesn't make sense why someone would be making all that racket in the middle of the night. plus i didn't hear walking around or talking. just banging. even one receptionist said she's had reports of the place being haunted. definitely wish i would found another place to stay even if i had to pay more.

Horrible place to stay. Stayed here because it was on the list of places recommended on the Navy website as we were in town for our son's graduation from Navy boot camp. There were roaches in the room, the A/C couldn't keep the room below 80 degrees, there were druggies passed out by the back entrance that we used because our room was on that end of the building, the furniture was literally falling apart, the bathroom door was busted and the bed was the most uncomfortable bed I've slept on since I was a young man in the military.Noteworthy details: The only plus side I can think of is that the restaurant next door, Gojo's, was pretty decent and they're open from early until late.

We went for my daughter's Navy boot camp graduation. The front desk lady was very courteous and nice. They had stragglers walking around asking for money and cigarettes. She made sure they left. They said they a fitness room but there lights didn't come cause electrical problems and bed mattresses were in there. They don't have an elevator so you have to carry all your bags up the steps.Rooms: Mattresses needs to be softer.Nearby activities: Restaurant and Pool HallSafety: Homeless ppl walking around constantly. Begging.

Stayed here in order to attend a concert at Genesee Theater. Some time during the evening our car was broken into and items stolen. The parking lot is tiny, and not secure at all. The hotel staff didn't seem to want to help. No response from the "manager" yet.The room was very dated. They installed motion sensors, so that every time you moved the bathroom light turned on.Cigarette burns on the bath tub.Toilet feels like you're going to fall off.

I feel like a business perspective they are doing the best they can. From a consumer point, it was only $70 for the day so don’t expect the hilton kind of stay. The The bathroom was small with no ventilation so imagine taking a deuce…..they had all the amenities, ice machine and vending machine. The beds and pillows, I freakin loved cause it was just the right amount of firmness and softness. They had a fitness center but I didn’t check it out. They accommodated us to have a room at the back as we parked our vehicle towards that end of the building. All in all the stay was just what we needed to rest and refresh for a night. Thank you.

As so many others, we arrived for our child's graduation from Navy boot camp. We had trepidation because of the other negative reviews and braced ourselves for a bad experience. However we could not have been happier. Tracey, at the front desk, was more like a concierge at an expensive hotel than someone who checks you in. She ensured that knew everything we needed to know about our son's graduation. The room was immaculate and comfortable. There was some late night noise from other guests but that is not the hotel's fault. The breakfast was muffins and coffee but you get what you pay for. I would stay again if needed but our son is off to bigger and better!

If having a comfortable bed is important to you find other accommodations. We were there for my sons bootcamp graduation and there were 4 of us in the room and none of us slept thanks to the terrible beds.

The hotel was nice. The carpets in the hall could be replaced...kinda nasty but really surprised how nice the rest of the hotel was. The desk clerks were nice and courteous. For the price we will absolutely stay again.

The room was filthy, just absolutely disgusting. The floors turned our socks black, the bedding was stained on one bed, the walls were dirty with scuff marks and food splatter and possibly even blood, the bathtub was dirty and there was mold on the shower walls behind the curtain rings, the mirror was splattered and dirty, a found a dirty sock on the shelf, etc. The room was set to 80 degrees when we arrived. Perfect breeding ground for germs and mold. I was given the same room a fellow navy wife's parents originally checked into just a few hours before. Wasn't cleaned even after they canceled their reservation and moved hotels. We shared almost the same images. Very sad. Our rental car was also keyed in the parking lot so not such a great neighborhood either.
