Wauconda boat is a landmark on Bangs Lake. The employees are very friendly and helpful. They have one of the brightest and youngest Mercury marine and Yamaha master techs (Kevin) that I've ever met. The rentals and fuel pumps are now run by the Wauconda Park District, but Wauconda boat is still in business for repairs.

If i could give it a - 5 starts I would. Unfortunately this is the only public ramp to launch into bangs lake.Just the worst marina and service ever. The ramp is very uncomfortable to launch from, very tiny drivaway to manuever and if there are otherS trying to launch or get out, then good luck. The lady at the front desk has no conception of what is good customer service. The first time we launched into Bangs Lake, she didnt even told us we needed a yearly sticker which was $80 (yes, they dont sell day passes). So we got pulled over in the water and had to pay $80 for a year's sticker. We did end up launching a 2nd time. While enjoying ourselves, we were bothered and threatened by Wauconda Boat to be towed because "apparently" our truck & trailer was poorly parked. They said we were taking up 2 parking sports. And they told us we had to come back and re-park or we will be towed. When we returned to the marina, went to the parking lot and our front right tire of our truk was STEPPING on the line. We were not taking up 2 parking spaces. There was a man outside and was asking my husband for $50!! That is outrageous.WE ARE NEVER GOING TO WAUCONDA BOAT OR BANGS LAKE AGAIN!!!!!

The worst run business I have ever dealt with !!! Along with their co-partners Lake County water sports they have a monopoly on Bangs Lake. Service is totally disgusting, they will bill you outrageous prices and don't always perform the services. They could care less about you as a customer. When I finally got my boat out of there for good, there were more zebra mussels in the boat than on the outside, almost deliberate. They have forced my away from Bangs lake forever. The one star ( since I have to give them one) must go to the book keeper, she is the only pleasant one to deal with.

We are locals and went to rent a pontoon. BEWARE if you are a minority family or group, the manager older lady (didn't catch her name) is very skeptical. Not a good experience. After begrudgedly completing the rental paperwork, the rest of the crew was very nice (reason for the better rating than deserved). Boat we were provided was clearly older. Still we made do and had a nice family time.

bad experience. be careful when renting pontoon from them. my group was charged for a extra hundred for some damage we did not hit anything. we got late start due to some issue with boat from previous people. as we were first out in the morning was not fun sitting for hour waiting. the lake is shallow and not very big. so does not take long to go around and being shallow you more wading than anything. would not recommend.

Reserved a pontoon boat and was't told til I went to sign the contract only 2 car in lot and others would have to park a block away. They swore up and down they told me when I know I was not told SO .BEWARE ONLY 2 CARS IN LOL. The boat wasn't ready was told fixing a crack from someone yesterday. If you know the boat was not going to be ready should of been told. When got got the lake was very weedy and hard to swim even in the sand bar when told it was't. When taken in was told we damaged a new prop that was just put on. Don't believe we did since the lake was small and sat most of the time and didn't hit anything except weeds. SO BEWARE check your boat before you go and come in. I Wouldn't mind paying if he got it repair but you know he will charge next few people for same thing before he fixes the nick on the prop. The women who works in the office and answer the phone is on attact mode when she answer the phone all 3 times I called and when I went it to get boat and check out. The service was crappy.. and crappy lake. For the price do yourself a favor save youmoney

Took my boat there for an issue with my outboard, blown powerhead. It took over 6 weeks for them to replace it. They put it back together and couldn't get it started. Took another 2 weeks to chase down a wire that was pinched when reassembling it. Then when I picked it up they made me bring a certified check like I was gonna screw them out of their work. If you want the right work done it's worth it to take your boat up to Don's in Lodi,WI. If you want to get screwed take your boat/motor there. I wish you could give negative stars..Their shop advertises Platinum Certified Techs, which they aren't. Do your research before you take your watercraft here. Please, I made the mistake and I won't again.

Took my boat for minor repairs and left with an invoice > $1000. Replacing a cracked fuel line, fixing horn and replacing bilge pump. $120/hrs labor rate is ridiculous. This would have been less than $500 anywhere else. Lesson learned....

Kudos to Joe and the staff at Wauconda Boat! I had a lovely season with my boat this year, all due to their expertise in resolving an issue with my boat and Evinrude motor. I was without it all year last year and no one could figure out why it was overheating. Even the manufacturer gave up on it after recommending and replacing everything they could imagine was wrong. Joe figured it all out and she “ran like a top” all season. Thank you again!

Purchased a Groupon deal for an 8 hour pontoon boat rental. When I arrived a little after 10am I was told that we only had the boat until 2:30pm. I asked the lady why that was when we had an 8 hour groupon and she told me that they closed early on Sundays. I said I was never told that and she insisted that she had told me that when I originally booked. I told her that she had not but again, she insisted. She also told me that she had me written down for an 8 am pick up which was totally false. When I originally booked the rental I had asked her if there was a certain time we needed to be there and she said that we could come at any time. Seeing as how I had 11 other people with me I told her that we would figure it out and went ahead with the rental. Once we were on the boat we noticed how dirty it was. There were peanut shells on the floor, cobwebs ALL OVER and dirt and dust which looked like it had been there for weeks. We cleaned the boat off ourselves and headed out on the lake. When we returned one of my friends went into the office to find out what had happened and why we were not given our full 8 hours which we had already paid for. The woman said she had told me about the shortened hours and my friend said that I was certain she did not and asked if she had anything showing she had told me that. She said no and began to get angry. She then called her husband into the office, who is the owner and my friend again asked him why we paid for 8 hours but were only given 4 and if they would honor the rest of the time on a different day. The owner said absolutely not. My friend asked him who had set up the groupon deal and why they would allow it to be booked if it couldn't be honored on a Sunday. The owner became very upset and told my friend to get out of his office. The owner then said he needed to check the boat and again told my friend to get out of the office. The entire time me and my guests were very calm but the owner was obviously getting upset. Once outside he was YELLING at members of my group telling them they would not get any more time on the boat. At that time his wife told me she was getting ready to call the cops. I told her there was no reason for that, we were simply asking why we did not get what we paid for. She again told me that she had told me over the phone that Sunday was a shorter day. I told her she had not and that it was obviously a mis-communication. The owner returned shortly and told me to get my ID and leave.I have contacted Groupon for a return because the services purchased were not the ones that I received and the owner was in no way going to rectify the situation. I have never in my life been to a business in which the customer was called a liar and then treated with such disrespect. I am a resident of Wauconda and will never ever use that business or recommend it to anyone ever again. I don't know how you can treat your customers in that manner and expect to have a business. My advice is to stay far far away from this place. They are over priced, their boats are not clean and the ownership has no idea what customer service is!
