Food was terrible and the root beer was ok. I'm not surprised about it closing down so quickly.

Nice enough place, although the menu is more drive-in than restaurant. Considering their Pekin location *is* a root beer stand that makes sense. Still, they do offer steaks and a few other items besides hotdogs, burgers and sandwiches. Their food is good and filling, and as reasonably priced as anything is nowadays and their root beer is very tasty.

Stopped for lunch. First visit. Wife ordered a fish sandwich, I ordered a tenderloin. Fish was soggy with grease and tenderloin was thin and a tough to chew. Up charge for tomatoe on the tenderloin. The tomatoe was a piece smaller than my little finger. Up charge for lettuce on the fish sandwich. Service was excellent. Rootbeer was amazing.

$17 for 2 chili cheese dogs and a medium root beer? Should have went to Texas Roadhouse for that! Or Wonderdogs for half of that. Just did not have a good experience here. I love giving 5⭐️ reviews but jeez, don’t pay attention to the price and menu they’ve posted on their Facebook page recently, it’s gonna be a lot more $$ when you get there. The waitress/bartender was plenty friendly, helpful and this bad experience is definitely not her fault. I wanted 2 chili dogs or coney dogs with cheese, asked what the difference was. I didn’t want pickle relish so we decided chili dogs with cheese was the way to go. Evidently they made coney dogs because I got relish with a third of a slice of American cheese. Ugh. This was an order to go and by the time I got to the truck and opened the box, did not feel like going back in to get them re-made. Also the root beer, not good. The syrup bag blew mid pour so they switched the bag and filled the rest up to 3/4 of the way (not full), but didn’t dump out the soda already in my cup so it was watered down. Just a bad experience overall, prices a lot higher than I’d expected based off the pricing on their Facebook menu that I’ve shared here, root beer bad and received coney dogs with relish but wanted chili dogs with cheese and onion.

We have gone a couple times, and neither time has everything come out correctly. For the price (for 2 root beers, a fried chicken sandwich and kid’s meal we spent almost $40 with tip!), there are better places in town.

*This is an addendum to the previous review (that follows). I'll stand by that review. Having said that, here's an update. Tonight me and a buddy went back as I said I would. HERE'S THE RUB: I ordered tamales as an appetizer - they were BURNT. *grin* I tried them anyway and the flavor was fine but here's my question, and this has happened from time to time at other restaurants - you BURNT my tamales but you sent them out to me anyway!? Who does that? Your food is your reputation and you decided it was perfectly OK to send out my BURNT tamales - hehehehe. *wow* ----- Recently enjoyed my first visit to Cranwills in Washington. Chilidogs were terrific as were the onion rings. Service was spot-on and friendly, too. I absolutely will be back!

My daughter and I have been here 3 times and have had a good experience each time! The service is always friendly and prompt! The food has been good and flavorful as well! I do have to say however that on our last visit I ordered the bbq pulled pork sandwich which was very tasty but a little skimpy on the portion. The top and bottom buns should never be able to touch with any pulled meat sandwich! Otherwise ??

Small seating area, only one section was open. We both ordered burgers. He didn't get the onion for his, I didn't get the pickle I asked for. Baked beans were not good, slaw had marshmallows in it. Was not as good as we expected. Prefer the Pekin

My friend Darryl and I decided to stop in for lunch last Sunday afternoon at this recently opened restaurant. We were seated right away and drinks were ordered. I ordered an iced tea with lemon, but my waitress never brought any out after saying she would two times. I finally asked another waitress and she promptly brought me out more than I would ever use. Not long after that our waitress came to our table and apologized. Said she got distracted, but two times in a row?? Darryl ordered a root beer and it came out in a frosty goblet that cost over 5 bucks. At that price he would have been better off buying a half gallon jug. They advertise their root beer to be home made, but I don't know whose home. Darryl liked it very well, in fact he loved his whole meal. He ordered the cheese burger and it came with two sides. The only sides they offered that he liked were fries. We asked if he could just get two side orders of fries. Our waitress said he could have onion rings and fries as his sides. That was fine with Darryl, but we weren't told that we had to pay extra for the onion rings. They were very good though. I ordered the BBQ Mac & Cheese, but you only get one side with it. I ordered the fries. Everything was very tasty, but I felt that my food portions were a little skimpy. The manager/owner made sure he visited every table when they came in and spoke to them at length. I really appreciated the effort. They have several flat screen TVs on the walls for those that like sports. We had to park at the rear of the restaurant and there is no rear entrance. Not many handicap parking places close to the entrance and it might be a challenge for some to walk from the rear parking lot. I will probably be back to try some of the other offerings at some point. You have to give them a try or two to make up your own mind.

My husband and I went on Valentine's Day. They had a ribeye and lobster special. We started with the Cowboy Sundae and it was delicious. Ribeyes were cooked perfectly and the lobster tail was charred and tasty. We could've used some tiny forks to get the lobster out but otherwise everything tasted great. Cocktails were strong and the waitress was extremely sweet and attentive. Will definitely be back!

The onion rings were outstanding. Highly recommend. We had wings which were good and a nice portion. The waitress was friendly. The wings took a bit to get to us but we weren't in a hurry.

We almost didn't come here because of the 3.0 but I'm glad we did. The food was great, service was excellent. Especially those onion rings! Some of the best I've ever had!

Do not go here if you are expecting to get the same type of Cranwill’s food served at the Pekin location. It is not the same at all. Started off with a root beer. Don’t expect a frozen mug! Over $4 for a root beer in a normal plastic cup. Bacon cheeseburger deluxe was large, not too flavorful but definitely filling. Got 2 sides. Fries were bottom shelf cheapest frozen fry’s like you would buy at the store, no salt so get that salt shaker ready! Second side was the cottage cheese, great size portion and came out nice and cold. Owner was super friendly and waitress did a great job. Very busy atmosphere at lunch and overall seemed pretty clean inside. I spent $22 for lunch 1 person. I will stick to eating at the Pekin Cranwill’s.
